IT Estate are having a one day sale on the Hitachi 4TB Deskstar 7200RPM HDD for only $241 Shipped to Canberra. Perth is $25. Cheapest I've seen is $295 at MSY.
I'm waiting for them to have a sale on the 3TB again.

No, $25 shipped to Perth. Would be cheaper to Eastern States.
should include that info in the title :)
it tells me shipping quote to Perth is $12, same price as eastern states (via Fastway)
Really? Mine says $25! Weird
tried again - now showing $25
not sure what is going on :-/
Yeah weird
I bought at this price about 6 weeks ago, wish it was an everyday price instead of special.
Well worth it, mine has been perfectly reliable and quiet, which was why I was avoiding seagate 4tb units. Sits quite happily in my N36L.
So tempted. Couldn't seem to find delivery to sydney without registering though… Shame.
Says $12 to canberra (without registering). I was checking for 5 HDDs. Tempted to replace my 10x2tb raid6 (effectively 16tb but 2 hdd redundancy) with 5x4tb Raid5 :/ (16tb with 1 hdd redundancy).
Pros for the switch:
1. Lower power
2. Capacity for additional storage in the future
3. These are "NAS" 24/7 hdds whereas my current ones are average/regular hdds
5. 5 years warranty?!
Cons:
1. Less HDD reundancy
to buy or not?
These are desktop standard drives. The enterprise class of drives are called UltraStar.
Warranty is shown as 3 years on IT Estate page.
I'm not criticising them. I just don't want you to base your decision on incorrect expectations.
They are quite good drives (I have 4 of these drives already :-})
$25 delivery to Tasmania (for 1, 2, 3 or 4).
THANKS. That was really helpful. I didn't realise. But this now makes the decision even harder, haha.
Cheers
B&H Photo Video also have abit of a cheaper deal if people don't mind getting it from them
where? I can only see "discontinued"??? How much they selling it for?
actually, Looking at some international (us/uk) websites, the product is discontinued/won't be stocked. Any ideas why?
edit: oh yeah, forgot hitachi was bought out by WD :P
I forgot to do the currency conversion so its more expensive actually. Only the 3TB are discontinued probably as suppliers are moving away from those sizes from Hitachi.
correct me if i'm wrong but I don't see 4TB's as within the bargain realm, unless you require full 4TB in one drive (maybe for Nas, or just don't have room in your tower) you would be better off getting two 2TB which come at 95 each on mWave, than in the future when 4TB get to 200, take one 2TB out, slap a shell and you have yourself a external 2 while you get a 4tb plus 2 in your system all while you still had 4TB for 200.
delivered?
