No it appears to be an Elements drive not a Passport, they are much cheaper

Plus it's hard to beat that one day MSY sale $46 for a 750GB Passport. Not that I'm expecting them to match that, but I'm using that as a benchmark now, and won't buy any more unless it's better than that price.

BTW, JB and Centrecom are dreaming if they think they can sell it at that price.

      • "it's hard to beat that one day MSY" not really, they are dodgy and don't have any stock.

        • that particular deal had PLENTY stock at a lot of stores ;)

they still had stock after the sale day ended too.

I also use that as the benchmark for current pricing now too

        • not really, they are dodgy and don't have any stock.

For some items yes. But that day I didn't have trouble getting any, and I wasn't first in either.

    • agree but when put this on google: wd elements vs passport

      found elements is better

  • Western Digital Elements 500GB - Black (WDBPCK5000ABK-PESN) 2.5 Inch, USB 3.0 External HDD

The 1TB version is $67 at Officeworks everyday.

  • No stock around Melbourne for the $67 Officeworks.

    • Anyone know of the next best deal for 1tb WD 2.5" drives?

      • Amazon has Passports for $70 + shipping.

Elements is actually more expensive, and I prefer the Passport's form factor.

  • Myer has Toshiba 1tb for $79, not sure what drive inside. Think Buffalo (WD drive?) 1tb same price

    • Wouldn't Toshiba be using there own branded drives for there external drives like Seagate, Hitachi and Western digital.

      • Seems logical. I ended up getting one anyway, so far so good.
