  • Try some of the comparison sites and see if it can beat Click.

    • Thanks

      Ive never heard of Click

    • just be careful of some of the comparison sites. some get commissions for signing you up and might not recommended the best plans for you.

since you are in qld, it wouldn't hurt to start at an independent site http://www.qca.org.au/electricity-retail/comparator/

also it doesn't hurt to ring retailers as sometimes they offer deals which aren't on their website

  • Found this one -

    Dodo Power & Gas
12 Month Contract - QLD electricity from Dodo Power & Gas

10% Pay on Time Discount off your electricity usage

Every time you pay your electricity bill on time, you’ll receive 10% off the electricity usage component of your bill, less applicable concessions. The supply charge component does not receive a discount.

    • I switched to Dodo from Origin and have come out better financially.

One difference I noticed between Click and Dodo is that Click is asking for $110 in advance, I assume that's monthly? With Dodo it was negotiable when I joined, ended up paying $75/mth reconciled every quarter.

Downside with Dodo is their telemarketers will ring you about once a month during dinner time to try and sell you their other services =/

      • Thought Dodo might not be good as I've been told to stay away from their Internet

        • I am with them for electricity as well and I am quite happy with them. Pay $74/mth and am so ahead of my bill at the moment, that I am not paying them for two months this year. I get 20% off usage fees but am planning to switch my gas to them as well as the bundle gives me 30% off usage fees. I think the discount is higher in VIC than QLD though.

  • Hey OP, don't just look at their discounts, it's important to know what rates they use. Try to get off-peak, on-peak daily, so you can do dishes/laundry any day of the week during off-peak times. Depending on your lifestyle.

i.e I was with Energy Australia their rate was Off peak and on peak daily and I switched to Origin for the bigger discount but forgot to factor in that they changed the way my rate was billed which is now weekday PEAK and weekend OFFPEAK which sucks and amounted to no difference in my bill. So now I hardly run the dish washer unless weekends and laundry on weekends (which isn't too bad).

  • Ok thanks

    I'll check that out

  • I am in the same position and same state, and found these two provider have better discount. But a search discovered feedbacks are not great:
    Click Energy
    Simply Energy

Yet to ring Origin to see if they will match the discounts.

  • Yer me too, the reviews are turning me off

    AGL is better the Origin

    • I am with AGL but last 2 bills were huge! $480 and $540. We pay every 3 month and they increase their rates once in 3 month. And no bonuses if you pay on time. So I am thinking to change to Click Energy. Dodo is tempting but they are not to be trusted as per user feedback.

  • +1

I actually recommend calling iSelect from those annoying TV ads. It really was almost as easy as they make it look on TV, we ended up with Origin through iSelect. They haven't even tried phoning me up or anything since to try and sell me any other products.

    • Yeah I went onto iSelect website typed in my mobile number and they called me back in 1 hour.
So they found that momentum is the best choice for me as they have 12 month plan with a bit cheaper rates than AGL but it is fixed so no price increase during the contract.
      http://www.momentumenergy.com.au/system/files/documents/PPIS…

But they do not have any discounts on pay in time and in full. My total saving is $160 for 12 month if agl will use same rates as now.

      Has anyone used them?

  • Rang Origin and AGL, seems 9% off usage (base discount + pay on time + direct debit) is the best they can offer:
    Origin: 1 year, 7%+1%+1%
    AGL: 2 year, 5%+2%+2%;

Anyone has better offers from these two?

    • As has been mentioned before, do not look at the percentage discount - compare the actual rates themselves. Personally I recently switched from Origin (after many years) to Momentum. Although we were on a 'one month free' special deal with Origin, the actual rate was high so I have calculated we are saving well over $1k per year through jumping ship. Sadly, Momentum (http://www.momentumenergy.com.au/prices) are only Vic/Nsw/SA at the moment.

  • Red Energy has a referral $50 sign-up bonus and Dodo $25.
PM me if you want either.

    • Holysmoke - Could you please PM me your referral for Red Energy?
      Thanks. :)
