$200 budget, Android phone needed by the 12th

Simply put I'm looking for a local bricks and mortar retailer or express shipping local store. I understand I'll pay more than China stock but times an issue. What's a good place to start?

Can go a little over the $200

The Telstra-locked Huawei Y300 is exceptional value if you're looking for a dual core, 4 inch medium end phone. Unlock it for only $5.49 via Bagman. You can get it for under $130 I believe.

The Ascend P1 also looks very good value.

  • Both y300 and p1 do look good, might opt for the more expensive of the two at a glance but will check out reviews too.

The alcatel to me doesn't offer a great deal more than screen size over the y300, am I missing something?

  • Bugger, looks like the p1 is out of stock.

  • Went with the y300, at that price sbs with two years warranty it's hard to go past .

  • what's so special about the 12th?

    • It's something to do with the Mayan calendar. That's all I can say.

  • See http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/109103 and mentioned Huawei models. Though Aldi phone sale starts on the 13th.

    • I was all over this handy thread last week.

Not sure if you have bought a mobile yet, but the Huawei Ascend G600 will be $198 @ JB from thursday:

  • Yeah, saw that one. Already picked up a y300. That will be fine for my mother. As always something better comes up though doesn't it .

    • Assuming you paid around $130 for the y300, then that's a good phone for the price point (as others have said).

      • Yep, 130 and perfect for mum.
