Oh, brother…
I think the printers have been $49 for most of the time, if not all. Also which store was this?
Glen waverley store
this is normal price . It even went down to $29 during back to school .
But best price right now tho!
The 2130 is identical to the 2132, except that the 2132 is the Office Works "labelled".
Dick Smith still have the 2130 for $44 - and when I bought one, it came with a reem of paper,http://www.dicksmith.com.au/laser-printers/brother-hl2130-mo…
So this is not the cheapest price.
Note: Office works only changed the model number to stop people "price comparing". They worked out that it was cheaper to re-brand the box and the actual unit itself.
Other things that you may want to consider,
- for about $65 you can get the new wireless models that have been relased ( most probably for iPhone compatibility)
- for about $80-$100 you can get the duplexed version of the 2130/2132
- for about $100-$120 you can get the color version of the 2130/2132I researched this about two weeks ago ;)
HL213x is $44 at DSE.
Link doesn't work appears to be a diff model
How about a pos for the wd case than? :)They are exactly the same thing, Brother just create a model number to fool buyer, and Office work don't need to price match as well.
I saw more than 10xHL2130 in DSE another day.
good thing about this is that as it's under $50 an additional 2 year warranty is just $7 - officeworks warranty isn't bad. you get a gift card to the value of what you paid if it stops working according to other forums.
For Brother printer, you won't bother with extra warranty. A drum unit cost $90 but a new printer come with new drum only $44, it's not hard to work out what's cheaper.
I'm in two minds. For $44, they are almost certainly not built well. If you're a moderate user, it's cheaper to pay the ~$10 warranty (that Dick Smith offered my on the 2130) - as they will give you a brand new printer, what ever the latest model is. I wouldn't be surprised if the printer fails within the first two years :)
I also suspect the price of these printers will go up in the near future for two reasons,
1. They won't be liquidating old stocks for much longer (ie. they will disappear, replaced with the newer wireless model)
2. The Australian dollar has depreciated by 10%Can I prove my theory? No - but if I were to hedge bets… I'd pay the extra $10
You don't understand what's happening here!
You will need to replace the $90 drum unit after 12000 pages print out, apart from toner. Please know warranty will not cover that no matter you wear it out in a month or whatever how long.Every brand sell consumer printer so cheap just because they make a fortune from the toner, as long as you use none genuine toner, your warranty is void!
You can paid more for extra warranty as you like, but that's total waste from the fact.
The brother printers come with something like 700 page toner and they cost $49 or less.
The toner costs $59 (often more) and prints 1000 pages.
I don't print much so i would rather buy a new printer every time.
And the environment loves you for it I'm sure.
Well XXXX ammount of printers have been made already, its just a matter of time before they get from the warehouse to the landfill. Might aswell start degrading them now.
Those printers could go to a larger number of consumers once (who presumably buy refills), instead of a smaller number of consumers many times.
If you do the maths, when you pay $49 for a new printer to get 700 more pages, you're paying 7c per page.
When you buy a refill for $59 to get 1000 pages, you're paying 5.9c, so if your printer is working fine, you're not even saving money by replacing the printer. You're just paying a bit extra and costing landfill.
Or you can buy the eBay version for $19 delivered … or hope that the price holds at $44 - see my posting above.
Note: the guy selling the $19 cartridges has a 99.x% rating.
Not very Bargain if you ask me. Officeworks started this offer some months ago so i think it's not a bargain.
And i think you can find this exact offer at several stores… bigw, thegoodguys, etc…
Sweet can't wait for your links and finding a decent printer under 50

See my post above (and others who refer to the 213x). The 2130 and the 2132 are identical, save the box and the badge.
Just waiting for 2270DW to go down, need one before next semester starts but too stingy to pay RRP.
What's the difference between the 2270DW (~$120) and 2132 ($49) in terms of functionality?
I think I've printed ~2000 pages worth of lecture slides, tutorial/workshop print outs, etc this semester and my 2132 is still going strong. It helps when a 2500-pg toner is only $18 off eBay.
On a side note, a handful of my courses focus on pathophysiology, which require learning from diagrams/images, so it'll probably be beneficial "upgrading" to a colour laser printer in order to clearly see the diagrams/images, as my mono laser printer struggles in that regard. Can anyone recommend one?
The 2270DW offers automatic duplex (D) and wireless networking (W).
Correct, I need it exactly because of these features.
You forgot to count the cost of drum unit($90) in your brother, this one only can print 12000 pages. Also not genuine toner won't print as much as it claims.
A 12,000 page drum in the 2130/2132? You are correct. For a $44 printer - I think I can accept that (what's why I bought one). For my needs, it wasn't worth the extra for the duplexer when we can just flip the pages and print on the other side anyway…
If I could have gotten the duplexer for an extra $30, I would think about it … but the sale had finished… And I wasn't willing to pay the extra $85 that they wanted on the day I bought the 2130.
I've been keeping my eye on the 2270DW as well. I assume $119 is the RRP.
The wireless version of this (2135W) was on special for $47 a couple of weeks ago at HN end of year sale. I assume it should still be today.
I would assume the Brother HL-2135W is back to normal price considering it's priced at $67 on the HN web site. Or did you confuse the $67 price for $47.
Definitely $47 as I originally bought the 2130 for $44 at DS and then saw the wireless one at hn for only $3 more so took the 2130 back to ds and bought the 2135w at in. It was in their catalogue as an EOFY sale
Now that's a bargain. I would have taken that for an extra $3 too ;)
The Brother HL-2130 printer is on sale at Dick Smith for $44 and it's basically the same printer as this one in the topic.

Looking for a cheap wireless mono laser printer, any recommendation guys?
The brother hl-2135w would be my recommendation. I've had one all this semester (bought it at about $65), printed about 500 pages on it and had no problems. It was easy to connect wirelessly, uses almost no power and has never jammed. Did have to replace the toner which was about $38 for a non-genuine.
http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=hl-2135w&spos=3 shows it's about the same price still. Is there a brother app to print from tablets and phones?
Also it it google cloud compatible?
Thanks
www.google.com
Or https://www.brother.com.au/products/printers/monochrome-lase… - I can only tell you that I can print from my iphone.
I've been watching this printer for quite a while now. It has always been around $45, at least for the past 6-8 months.
OP, how did you take this snap?
looks damn good more so if it was taken with a mobile phone camera.I got the hl-2135w (Wireless Version) plus a 2,000 page toner (Calidad) for a total $98. Best investment i have made for my printing needs. The printer is very fast.
Not cheap, I think I got it for about $29 last year from Officeworks if my memory serve me right.
Meh, just wait until Harvey Moron does a special on the HL-2130 for $28-35.
