Not sure what to make of this tv, seems like a cheap big screen tv. Apparently a bigger brand in china then here but don't really know much more then that.

Found 1 review that seemed positive but not much more: http://www.quora.com/Reviews-of-Skyworth-LED-TV-55-55E66A#st…

    • yeah heard of mwave being shady in the past

  • If it's a 120Hz tv then it was intended for the US market. As such, there is a very significant chance that the tuner is not compatible with Australian standards.

    • According to this site http://www.bestbuy247.com.au/shop/item.aspx?itemid=25 it uses DVB-T which I believe is what is used in Australia

Okay, that's good. But I noticed it is PAL/SECAM compatible. That means NTSC (the standard used in US and much of Asia) won't work. So many DVD's from India and other countries may not play, I think.

        • Pretty sure if it's connected via HDMI it won't matter. Could be wrong.

        • True, but it will matter if connected by any other means, I think. Unless you use a receiver which converts, rather than passes through.

        • bzzzt wrong answer but thanks for playing

        • Just trying to warn people. There was a post before (which got unpublished) of a place trying to sell US televisions which would not have worked here.
One of my tv's is hooked up without HDMI and I play NTSC discs from time to time.

  • 5 inch longer and bigger scan rate than Aldi's Bauhn $599 (50'/60 hz)

    is it worth extra $110???

    • cheaper than other prices I have seen for "5 inch longer"

      • "cheaper than other prices I have seen for "5 inch longer" "
shall i go there with that comment or not……. honestly you make it too easy ill pass :)
P.S I'd rather have no warranty problems when buyin a tv, so ill pass….. sad im lookin for a 55" tv. :-)

        • It's a game of statistics. If the chance of your tv breaking is 20%, but you save >20% on the purchase price, then you're ahead (provided you can financially cope with the full loss in the event that it does break). I am not prepared to spend 30% extra or more to buy from a store with "good service" if the chance that I will need that service is actually 10% or less.
Of course it's hard to put a price on frustration…

  • saw the 4k tv from skyworth at guangzhou, pretty goooood

not sure on reliability though, skyworth is becoming common household brand

  • Would this mean they are using LG panels? http://www.skyworth.com.hk/blank21.htm

I wonder… was shipping always off or did they bump it back up for the frenzy?
