I can vouch for the quality of this vacuum, had it for years. If you find reviews you will see its as good as if not better than the Dyson DC39 Animal for half the price.

I'll leave comments on price to other people.

      I'm with BX here.
We got a Miele 5211 & turbo ($320 good deal at HN) head some time ago and it is no ordinary vacuum.
Quality and performance is second to none and we have had our fair share of crappy vacuum cleaners in our time.
I would not give a second thought to buying any other after the Miele.

  • Better than a dyson?

    • +4

      Dyson is extremely overrated.

      • +1

I don't get the Dyson haters. I've bought many vacuum cleaners over the years, and all have failed to work as expected, except for the Dyson, which continues to exceed my performance expectations.

        • Maybe its just you. You're unlucky or just buying cheap/crap vacuums.

Did you ever buy a Miele?

        • Dyson is still a solid brand but it annoys me that it is always talked about as the benchmark all other vacuums should be performing to.

It is a solid brand but for the money you can usually get a better vacuum.

        • +1

Guilty of buying cheap vacuum cleaners in the past :)

Dyson all the way baby! Yeah!

        • +1

I hear this a lot actually, dyson is the first expensive vacuum many people buy. When you compare a dyson to just about all of the cheap ones you are absolutely right.

        • @bigosmallo You should go on to say which ones are better then…

    • Always thought the miele and dyson were on the same class…saying that I only own the dyson but would of preferred a miele. Hate emptying the dyson…

  • this is an amazing price

  • How much for the bags?

    • +1

We just bought 4 boxes of 4 bags & filters for around $50 delivered off ebay from a Vic dealer.
They are around $20 a box at local stores.
There are generic brands around but best to stay with the Miele bags imo.
The bags do hold a lot and therefore rarely need replacing.
A much better system than messing around cleaning out a bagless vacuum.

      • Bags were from dte_vacs on ebay if anyone is looking.
$54.85 4 boxes of genuine Miele bags & filters inc delivery to nsw.
Looks like price has gone up a couple of $ but still the best buy around.
        :-)

  • Genuine bags are like $25 for 5. Generic ones probably half price.

I've had my $500 4xxx series for 5 years now and it's still going strong… Used once a week, and no we seriously were not gentle with it.

  • With 6 fur-babies I must look into this, thank you OP, I've been dreaming of a Dyson buthave not been able to afford the pet one… thanks again!

    • +1 for the deal from me, I just bought one today to deal with the hair my three leave around, I'm stunned how much it removes from the carpet. Only negative on the machine is that the amount of hair my lot shed it's not going to take long to fill the dust bag… 4 bedrooms done this evening and it's already 1/3 full!

    Great vacuum

  • Can someone tell me the difference among S5261, S6320 and S8320 in terms of performance? I have got Cat & Dog vacumm cleaner 10 years ago and still working but very tempted to get a brand new one.

Go one of these for $450 3 years ago. Great performer - esp with pet hair and kids in the house.

We love our Miele S5211. The build quality and suction is amazing and craps all over the previous 2 Dysons. Even with bags, we are still ahead.

    Can highly recommend!

agree 100%, this is a much better vac than previous ones I had (electrolux and dyson)..

I can totally vouch on Miele vacuums, was sceptical until I bought S5781 for $500 (discontinued model, down from $900), best $500 I spent on household stuff

I've got two of the Aldi twin cyclonic vacuums which are used several times a week.
I bought one, and it sucked so much I bought another when they came back to Aldi a year later!
They are 2 and 3 years old now, and still work really well.

For $100, 60 day return policy (and 3 year warranty), it's worth trying out.
Of course you get what you pay for and the plastic isn't the strongest, and the powercord and vacuum pipe could be longer, but in saying that they do their job really well!

It was available from the 5th June, so some stock might still be available.

I'm not suggesting this cheap alternative because I am averse to Miele as we have one of their washing machines!

  • Good deal, I bought the 5211 for around $300 which is fantastic. If I had this available for $350 at the time I would have bought it instead.

  • Call it a hubby, but there'd be concern if it were called a missus.

edit: correction, reread as you are the hubby.

Can also vouch for this vacuum. Had it five years and its amazing (both the turbo and the regular head)

You can also no buy a bagless extension (it attached to the hose and collects 99% of the dust in a plastic container). I got this at Godfrey's.

  • I bought the S5211 from TGG for $255 a few months ago. Very happy with it so far.

    • was that during the boxing day sale? I'm after the same model as well but it is listed as $297 online.

      • Nah it was around March. Called around a few stores in VIC and I think Essendon or Maribyrnong quoted $255 straight away even though it was listed higher on the website. Told this price to Hoppers Crossing store (as it was convenient) and after some checking they matched it.

  • I own a number of Miele appliances, including a 5211 vacuum.
You generally pay a premium, but it's worth it.
Regularly 1st in Choice mag performance tests and reliability surveys.
Early Dyson vacs - despite the price - were very unreliable. I'm sure they've improved. They would want to have done…

  • Gee, I'd be really keen if I didn't already have a functioning vacuum cleaner that's only 3 years old. Hmm. A great find. We did consider this but ended up going with an Electrolux vacuum.

  • $343 from Appliancesonline. So is this still a deal?

Just picked one up from DFO essendon VIC for $334 cash, plenty in stock.

  • Thanks for the heads-up. Grabbed one from Osbourne Park today (further reduced to £334) and given it a quick test… literally wipes the floor with the generic one supplied by my landlord and a great price compared with other makes.

  • Picked one up from Bayswater. $334. Thanks OP
