Got 3 old computers sitting in my wardrobe. 2 of them still run XP fine. I tried win 8 on one of them and it kind of ran just not very well. Anyway apart from years of dust build up they still run ok. I would sell them but the 50 Bucks I might get for them isn't worth the time for me. I've pulled the DDR1 RAM out of them coz that seems to be worth some money but the rest (PATA HDD and DVDRW) probably not so much , any idea's what to do with the rest? Seems a shame to chuck it in the trash..
Anyone want to take it off my hands? I'm in Wattleup WA 6166.
Best way to dispose of an old barely working desktop computer?

Put it out on the kerb. Place a sign "$150 ONO".
Wait till tomorrow and it'll probably disappear as some hooligan will probably pick it up thinking it's worth that much.
Put an apple sticker on it to make it extra convincing
hahahah nice ideas :D … Would make a gnarly chest of drawers with a bit of handywork
There are places here in Adelaide where we can take such electronic items for recycling. Do you have those in Perth?
Gumtree
Take the hard drives out of them before you sell or donate
Any of these Freecycle groups near you? Not sure if you're covered by Perth or Rockingham.

Post an ad and someone might take them off your hands for an Internet browsing machine, or parts.
check your local council website for e-waste recycling. Many councils now have free recycling drop off centres for recycling electrical appliances
Is Acer still offering the $120 cash back?

If you don't need an Acer computer, you could always use this as a means of freeing up the space that this one is taking up, then donate the voucher to someone who can use it.
freecycle
or look for a charity that collects computers to provide to disadvantaged people.
provide to disadvantaged people.
why should disadvantaged people be even more disadvantaged with a crap computer?
it will still give them access to internet porn.
I think you'd be lucky to get rid of them for free. That they have DDR1 tells me that they are P4 era, and right now people are tossing core duos. I would just wipe the hard drives (or hit them with a hammer if your too lazy) and put it on the side of the road. Somebody will pick them up to recycle the $3 worth of scrap metal in them.
I have seen ewaste places full of P4 towers. Trust me its no great crime to not repurpose yours. Especially considering the higher energy use, it would be cheaper in the long run to buy new.
Remove the magnets from the hard disk.
Keep the heat sinks and fans.
Dump it in a nice pristine piece of bushland.
donate, take video of epic destruction, built a foot rest, make it into a car boot organiser… the options are endless
