i am using this one now. a lot of troubles. e.g. slow connection to TPG ADSL2+, normally takes more than 20 mins to connect if internet dropped. the longest time to reconnect to TPG was 2 days. but all other brand router works fine with TPG. e.g. TPLINK, D-LINK :(

also, this device not working with ATA device if you are on VOIP. e.g. compatibility issue with SPA 2102.

Disable "SIP ALG" in the configuration to resolve your VOIP issues.

      • correct. you need do extra step. and support has no idea.

TPG apparently does ADSL2 a bit differently to other ISPs, not all modems can handle the way TPG does things. I have a TP-link TD8840T, and it had trouble connecting just like your modem. Went to TP-link website, and found there is a special firmware just for TPG users, apparently to work around TPG's strangeness.

If you haven't done so already, suggest you try the Netgear website.

      • thanks. when i bought this router, there was only one firmware, no update avaliable. about 2 months ago, Netgear released a new firmware, but i do still have issue with TPG internet. so, if anyone use TPG, please think about this router carefully.

    • Do you happen to know what the issue is with this modem and TPG? Im with TPG and am looking at this modem myself.

    Two (2) USB 2.0 ports

I have a friend with with one of these it has dual band wifi the 5ghz is fast he loves the connectivity with his colour Laser printer
modem is NBN ready (if it ever comes to his house) modem also has 2 USB ports, downside is they're only ver 2.0

It's download speed is faster than his old Netgear modem he showed me (I forget by how much will ask later this week) his only worry was one PC in his home network doesn't reconnect if line drops out (didn't happen before) but he hasn't rang support about that he was still testing it 10 days ago

Saw the black glass screen on his desk and I thought it was a small tablet in sleep mode !!

He is on Netspace (I'm on TPG) I was very impressed and plan on getting one when they release it with USB 3.0
a little bit concerned after su27km comment and will ask Netgear about it before I buy

  • I have the Netgear D6300. I'm on TPG ADSL2+ in Canberra. It works perfectly: slightly faster ADSL2 speed than the Netcomm NB5 plus it replaced, configured itself for TPG, noticeably better wifi (than the older model wireless n Airport Extreme that it also replaced). Have tried the attached storage and was pretty happy. $199 is the best price I've seen (I paid $266 at Christmas from JB Hifi).

    Overall 8.5/10
