Hi guys I'm looking at getting a debit card and would like to know which bank you Ozbargainers recommend.
All responses would be appreciated

Do you have one? If so, how long did it take for them to get back to you in the approval process?
I don't have one since I have a 28 Degrees card (mandatory for OzBargain :P).
If you do a search on Whirlpool you'll find a lot of threads about the Citibank plus (Visa debit card btw) :)
I think I had my card in about two weeks after I handed in my application.
Personally I would not use the credit facility on the 28 degrees card and your money is not protected from skimmers if you load the card up with your own funds. 28 degrees only protects on credit.
Horrible customer service from Citibank, though.
I had my card skimmed after a trip to Cambodia. Customer service took around 5 weeks to refund the money. Didn't worry me too much but anyone that might be in need of the money would have been inconvenienced. The customer service was okay but St George (my everyday bank) is better.
Get the ING Orange Everyday bank account and your debit card will have 5% cash back on Visa payWave purchases under $100 for 6 months. For new Orange Everyday customers, No monthly fees and No ATM fees at any Australian ATM when you withdraw $200 or more. Good for the 5% cashback using payWave but not good for using to withdraw cash.
What happens after the 6 months?
both are a must have ( if you dont own 28degrees or a platinum bank west cc)
ING is fine for withdrawing cash. Just forget the ATM's and use the self serve at the supermarket.
Citi has horrific internet banking. Will never use as day to day account.
ING has 5% paywave cashback, MEBank has $50 bonus, NAB for human service. All three are free.
Brilliant comment, thanks for saving my time~!
Westpac, or one of the other Big Four. How many RediATM or NAB ATMs do you have around you? With Westpac you have them or St George at least in Sydney. And do you really want to deal with a bank with no branches when you have issues?
Does westpac offer a fee free account?

Currency conversion rate wise, it's essentially the same (market rate) as the 28 Degrees card, except in debit card form. Great for overseas/online purchases.
