    $245 CPU: Intel 4670
    $129 MB: Asus H87-PRO
    ~$70 RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) Team 1600MHz
$109 SSD: Sandisk Ultra Plus 128G
    $69 HD: 1TB Seagate 7200RPM
    $299 Graphics: Gainward 2G GTX670
    $19 OD: Samsung 24X
    $51 Case: Coolermaster K350
    $65 PSU: Thermaltake Lite 600W

    Total: $1056 + build/shipping costs.

Prices taken from MSY. GTX670 price is based off the previous Leadtek/ASUS bargains on OzBargain. Of course you have to add shipping for those which is ~$15 I believe. Overall not a bad bargain, could be much much worse. :P This one is essentially free assembly with a discount on parts which you can then put towards paying for shipping.

    • The obvious issue is that you can't upgrade parts.

I'd steer away from cheap PSU's and would probably want to bump the CPU up to the unlocked model.

Decent price if you couldn't care less about over-clocking and you're happy with the line-up.

      • +1

I love these PC deals for one reason, reading all the comments of why spending more money will get you a better product. Who would have thought!?

  • +3

Hmmm not sure about the PSU? I would want to swap for a Seasonic/Corsair or something with a more reliable name.

    • +1

It's not a great PSU, but you could do a lot worse. Reviews on the Litepower 450 seems good. Can't say much about the other OEM stuff TT bundles with their cases though. http://www.overclockers.com.au/wiki/Thermaltake_PSUs

      • +1

Thermaltake is a reputable brand. They're just cheaper. Antec/Seasonic PSUs just pack a bigger punch for the same wattage rating and generally have a higher efficiency rating (this is pretty gimmicky). This accounts for the cost difference.

It's not like Antec vs SHAW, which are horribly built and are known to fail/explode.

EDIT: that page was last updated in 2007 and was referring to PSUs from as far back as 2003 era.

    • You're right, even on that build I'd invest another $60 in the PSU.

  • +13

Thank you for delivering your promise about a cheap gaming system. I think you've given us some very reasonable prices on these parts.

Good deal to all in the market for a mid end gaming pc :-)

    • +6

Thank you for your comments and support. :)

      • Any chance for upgrade options at an additional cost? I'd like a better PSU + 16Gb RAM + a different GPU

        • +1

Please email your request to [email protected], we will see what we can do and email you a quote. Thanks.

  • Rep, is it possible for you install OS win 8 and then ship? And how much would that be to final price ?

    • Please email your request to [email protected], we will see what we can do and email you a quote. Thanks.

      • Thanks.
If sales don't reply today, will you honour this price till after(like tomorrow)?

Anyone know if this can run Battlefield 4 on Ultra settings?

    • Probably not exceedingly well.

      • +3

        Why would that be?

    • With a 1080p screen yes. Probably average at 50fps

    • +1

Yes. It can run on ultra. Whether or not it does it well only the BF4 devs know.

      • This. "ultra" is just some arbitrary setting defined by the devs. Some "ultra" settings supersample and then downsample which is ridiculously taxing on hardware

    • -7

No, Ultra is for dual GPU setups

    • on BF3 it apparently runs ultra better than the hd7970, which I was quite keen on getting.

  • This looks tempting

[off-topic] Out of curiousity, will this beat PS4?

    • +1

i'm not an expert, but I think you're comparing apples to oranges in a sense that a PS4 is a dedicated console for just gaming, and has all its parts specifically designed for that purpose where as a PC has all these components added that allow you to play games but also allows you to do other things. For that flexibility, its going to cost more, and be a little less stable (in some cases) compared to PS4 in the same sense as iOS vs android. So it's hard to do a straightforward comparison in that sense. I'm moving away from xbox to PC because I also do photo and video editing, and I can knock down two birds with one stone.

But if you're asking whether PC is better than PS4, then you're opening pandora's box.

      • You're right, I should of mentioned comparing the gaming aspect.

        PS4 specs:
Single-chip custom processorCPU: x86-64 AMD 'Jaguar' 8 cores
        GPU: 1.84 TFLOPS, AMD Radeon

        Memory
        GDDR5 8GB

        Hard Disk Drive
        Built-in 500GB

      • +2

You can't exactly say the PS4 has all its parts specifically designed for the purpose of gaming, given that it's using a desktop derived CPU, desktop derived GPU, and RAM designed for desktop GPUs.

    • +1

      yes.
      - ps4's apu was quoted 1.8 Tflops, which is near the 7870/660ti.
      - limited to 1080p for games
      - no oc

But then this all depends on how games are developed and ported. But raw power, pc hands down.

      • +1

FWIW, this system doesn't have any meaningful OC either. But I agree even without OC this will have more raw power, and given how close the next gen consoles are to desktop hardware I'd be surprised if the optimisations gained from focusing on that hardware don't benefit PC users as well.

    • -1

Within 1 year of PS4 release most games on this PC will only run under low/med, 2 years even worse

Games for consoles are tuned heavily, PC games have a lot of overheads including drivers, OS and unpredictable hardware

      • EDIT: I think PS4 will still run games on med/high. A massively tweaked high.

      • +4

This is no longer the case with the X86 CPU's and ATI Video cards in the new consoles.

The #1 reason the PC and Console hardware does not match up is the resolution.

        Playstation 3/Xbox 360: 1024x600 = 614400 pixels
        PC: 1920x1080 = 2073600 pixels

PC has 3x more pixels to render.

        Console: 30fps
PC: 60fps is normally what is wanted. Even old computers can achieve 30fps in many games.

So in total a PC needs 6x more power just to run it at the resolution and fps you want.

Then you add the fact that most consoles only run at low/medium quality, PC players want high/very high.

Its unfortunate so little people know this.

        • -3

I'm not sure where you are getting your information from. Almost all PS3 and XBOX 360 games released in the last few years are 1280x720 with some 1920x1080 titles (mainly PSN/XBLA). Lots of 60fps games too:

          http://www.giantbomb.com/60-fps-on-consoles/3015-3223/

        • +2

I just googled it, turns out it was the call of duty games that run at 600p.

You do realise that 720p is hardly close to 1080p in terms of processing needed.

And the 1920x1080 as you mentioned is PSN/XBLA, basically 2D games mostly.

My point still stands very clearly.

        • -2

Except that for games that need it - like fighting games and shooters - that benefit from 60fps, they are actually running at 720p/60fps on consoles so the difference in processing power is much closer to 2x to 6x.

Of course, PCs need more processing power because 1080p is much more common - I'd never deny that - but your point was grossly exaggerated. I was just pointing out the facts - I'm sorry that PC fanboys feel the need to neg a completely factual comment. Insecure much?

        • The games that run at 720p/60fps run perfectly on PC's anyway because of all the processing room spare.

That doesn't change the fact that a PC has 6x more processing power, just because some games don't use it it doesn't make it untrue.

Also don't forget that consoles run at low/medium, PC users will rarely use these settings.

    • +1

It's technically superior in that the CPU is greater than the 8 core jaguar and 670 > 7850+ that's in the PS4. If the same game was released on both platforms due to optimisations I would think the PS4 would be better but who knows?

  • +1

Can you do a good price on the HD7970 and have that added in?
    … or no swapping?

    • Please email your request to [email protected], we will see what we can do and email you a quote. Thanks.

  • Once again, seriously, how do you get the parts this cheap?

    • +4

      Supplier bulk buy?

    • +1

We are trying our best to provide more value to our customers. :)

  • Would this do OK for photo editing (ie. lightroom) as well as gaming?

    • I believe so.

    • +2

This would be fine for photoshopping and lightroom, but I'd recommend getting in contact with cpl and getting 16gb Ram. Photo editing is heavy on the ram and cpu, rather than the graphics card.

      • +1

8GB is more than enough unless you have 400 or so 20 Megapixel RAW's open and no space left on your SSD to page against.

    • I'm pretty sure the RAM demand is also fairly dependant on the catalogue size… (possibly).
On lightroom 4 I have never exceeded 2Gb ram taken up whereas my friends takes way more.
Every time I go out shooting, I make a new catalogue.
So the largest catalogue I have is probably around 500 photos whereas he puts them all into a single catalogue and I'm pretty sure thats why his takes up so much more RAM.

  • +1

Can you do last week $500 system again? I don't need video card…or 1Tb storage.
    thanks.

    • +1

I will check with the management. If we can do it again, we will post it on our facebook (www.facebook.com/cplonline) one day before we posting here. Thanks.

      • I think we would prefer not to be seen as a 2nd class citizen to facebook here. Consider at least treating us here equally to facebook. Many of us don't follow "deals" via facebook.

  • +1

I've previously had major issue with getting warranty service from cpl. And I,m not the only one

I bought a hauppage 2200 tv tuner card from them in store. Even before leaving the store. I won't out the the item was used. . I demanded a new one. And was they were all the same. I asked that if it didn't work. Could I return it for a refund. This was declined .. I then asked for my money back and was forced to fill out an rma' form for an item they had not left their shop. Took me over an hour to get my money back.. I then bought the same it sealed and new from pcdiy……

There's a few major threads in whirlpool about people taking them to small claims…. They basically have worked out that people can't be bothered. Or the costs in time and effort aren't worthwhile

There's only two places I refuse to purchase from. CPL and Megabuy …..

    • +3

Hi Kevin, it doesn't sound like something could / should happen in CPL. Would you please email the details to [email protected]? We will fix it if it did happen. Thank you!

      • Since Kevin made his allegations/grievance public, I hope he'll update us of the result CPL's offer to clear it up.
On internet, it's too easy to dirty company's reputation.

        • Took me over an hour to get my money back.. I then bought the same it sealed and new from pcdiy……

I'm not sure what resolution could be offered here.. perhaps a once off discount specific to the customer, the issue from the customer was already resolved (he got his money back, although in an unpleasant manner).

        • +1

          Thats right..

I can't be bothered dealing with them ever again.. and it really did happen…

Here's a few links to whirlpool threads about them..
          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/?action=threads_search&…

          This one is especially telling

Here's a thread, with my post within it..

Here's a few links to whirlpool threads about them..
          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/?action=threads_search&…

To be perfectly honest - your first link tells us that there are around 10 threads started about them every year - with the oldest being 2004 (either way, we know that they have existed for, at the very least - 10 years, without doing further research)

Your 2nd link is pretty ragey, some horror stories there

3rd link - a little more raging there

From my POV, they seem to be a MSY-type store.. with past horror stories, it looks like they're improving through out the past year or two. Your post on whirlpool: "2011-Nov-1, 3:19 pm", just saying, it's been 2 and a half years. I'm not sure how relevant that should be for today's buyers. Definitely worth noting, but I'm not sure it should be a valid negative vote on this deal.
Also, their rep here seems EXTREMELY knowledgeable.
See here for their OzBargain history: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/cplonline.com.au
Looks like quite a few good bargains posted with very little negative votes, apart from a handful of lemon deals.

Edit: looks like a lot of hate and online rage towards the "Notting Hill" store :P

        • Well I used to buy a fair bit from CPL when they used to go to the swapmeets in Melbourne.. started seeing the horror stories… didn't really think of it. until it happened to me..

CPL basically makes shops like MSY look like absolute angels…

Heres the list of shops I never buy from

          CPL
          Gamedude
          Megabuy and its many varinats
          Cworld

Just been way too many issues of the years…
Maybe CPL.. have picked up their game.. after having alot of people boycott buying products from them..

I'm sure their rep is really nice.. wait you need to deal with their service departments..

  • Do u have any system deal under $500 anytime soon?

    • I remember they had it the other day. Not 100 percent sure though.

    • I will check with the management. If we can do it again, we will post it on our facebook (www.facebook.com/cplonline) one day before we posting here. Thanks.

  • I'm not a fan of the GPU, just because the reference 670's have pretty bad coolers (very small heatsink, not very quiet or efficient) so I'd be swapping that out for pretty much any non-reference one. Other than that though, this looks like a pretty sweet system for the price!

  • +1

will be great if you can do a deal on a video/photoshop system :) e.g http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/rmp_sg_whirlpoolpcs_multi_taski…

PC PArt picker is also another one. However, both of these are US centric and use Newegg / Amazon for pricing.

Hi Guys, all units for this special price have been sold. Thank you again for all your support. We will post another bargain in the next few days. Thanks.

    • Thanks Mate. Very good sales staff. Added windows 8 and 2 years extended warranty.

  • What motherboard is recommended if you plan to OC the same CPU?

    • You can't OC the same CPU, at least, it's not well designed for it. For OC you want the 4670K, and a Z87 based motherboard.

  • Good deal rep

  • -2

I want to neg this deal out of the resentful bitterness I feel of paying almost the same price for a less well speced machine less than 5 months ago. Albeit with a better PSU and case.

but 1) doing that would not be cool.
    2) this is a friggin sweet deal.
    3) that's not the REM way.

    • this psot sounds like patronizing. They are just doing business. No need to patronize. They wont give you freebies just because you did!

  • Will this go smooth with game online like lineage2?

    • +1

Yes. It'll play any game available atm with no problems.
