Just bought a Dell Inspiron One at an incredible price!

Just bought this model:

Amazing specs for an all in-one with touch screen isn't it?

Is there a catch or am I missing something?

I'm personally not a big fan of AIO's since they're not self-serviceable. With a regular PC, if the mainboard, GPU, PSU or fan dies you can replace it yourself with off-the-shelf parts.

With an AIO you can't really swap it's parts for anything else. The only things you can upgrade are just memory and hard disks, everything else is proprietary and soldered on. Also a lot of stuff you have to rip out to get to the heatsinks when cleaning.

But I digress. Good deal. The specifications are a bit unbalanced as usual though (has a fast CPU but the video card is downright slow)

  • Yes, but you've got to take into account usage

The specs are more that good enough for what you use an AIO touchscreen (in fact, they are even overkill)

I bought it as a sort of giant tablet that would seat in the living room so don't think I'm ever going to need to upgrade anything for the next 10 years really

  • wow! thats pretty good, was it the refurb model you bought though? i think those comes shipped with some minor scratches, besides that….its a pretty good price…i wouldnt mind picking one up but ever since the new haswell cpu has been released I might hold out a little bit for the price to drop even more.

  • Yes refurb, bought on eBay

Funny, Dell sell stuff on eBay, for example, there is a link to that same model, new
    http://configure.ap.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=au&l=en…

At $1498.98 which doesn't appear on their website unless you know the URL

I'm not sure Haswell will have that much impact on the price of previous gen for desktop… It may make previous gen laptops a bit obsolete, but there's pretty much no gain for desktops

I'm pretty sure that it's quite unlikely that the price of this model with these specs can go much lower in the next 12 months

  • i think if you look up the dell outlet store they have super cheap stuff, http://www1.ap.dell.com/au/en/dfo/df.aspx?refid=df&s=dfo&~ck…

you have to constantly check there though, you get some super good bargains sometimes.

  • Don't know, I've been a few times and never really saw anything interesting at a bargain price

  • Non upgradeable, and no SSD. The mobo is likely poor quality too. I wouldn't have bought it.

  • thats a great price for a TOUCH fhd aio

    • i7 + BD + good GPU

everyone is a propellor head gaming twit but people like the conveninece of an AIO

  • Haha thanks, that's true, some people just miss the point, an AIO is not a desktop computer, which is also different from a laptop or a tablet. Guys, same criteria don't apply to everything
