AA Eneloop batteries or similar (for camera flash)

Hi,

Has anyone seen any good deals for Eneloop batteries or similar recently? I need to get a bundle (8+) for my camera flash.

Cheers

  • They were on CoTD last week which doesn't help. Next best (in absence of DS special) is eBay or Amazon I think?

Try the Turnigy brand from Hobbyking. The technology is called Low Self Discharge (LSD) to help your search. I can personally recommend Turnigy for both AA and AAA. They perform very similarly to Eneloop, I have about 20 eneloops and about 40 Turnigys.

Varta make an LSD battery too, but the ones I got were hopeless. Steer clear.

    • These are cheap - am buying some - Thanks

    • Thanks, I need some AAA ones. Haven't seen AAA Eneloop specials for a long time, so will consider this place.

    • Thanks for the tip! What charger do you use for your Turnigy batteries? I've only got an Energizer dumb charger, will it wreck the Turnigy batts?

      • Eneloops are Japanese made. Rather have them.

The dumb charger can cook batteries. Its better to have a smart charger. Eneloop has a smart charger. I bought about 2 years ago and it works very well.

        • I don't think it will 'wreck' them, but you can't leave them in a dumb charger for longer than it takes to charge, and if it overcharges they get hot and will have a reduced life.
I use one of the La Crosse BC-700 smart chargers, and it is really very good. Well worth the $45 or so it will cost.

The eneloops cost about double, and aren't twice as good.

        • But we know the Eneloops are made safely in Japan by workers working normal hours and actually care about the environment and most likely last longer/better made.

        • Thanks for the info!

  • Is DSE Eneloop deal still on? If not, you can always wait for it. They have them on sale quite often.
