  • Got my parcel today (probably this morning, didn't check though).

Thanks, bundled up well and surprisingly not wet.

It's a lot lighter than my old tent!

  • Got one parcel today, without any shipping email Temando. Now hoping the next one arrives tomorrow….

  • Tent delivered. Cheers OP

  • Tent delivered. I wasn't sure I had even bought one. My bank was debited but no emails. As for the naysayers who cast aspersions on this great affordable tent. I've backpacked extensively with this one since it is lighter than most of the more expensive lightweight tents. Its seen me through torrential storms numerous times and has never leaked. And the best part, it has been cheap enough to jettison when no longer required or doesn't satisfy onboard baggage requirements on low-cost flights. Glad to buy another one so cheap. Thanks OP.

Why didn't you post about its qualities at the time, if you've "backpacked extensively with this one", rather than wait to receive it & then complain now about naysayers?? I'm sure we all would have appreciated your experience. Thats what this community is about - learning from others (to get a bargain).

Its best to make an informed decision on a deal, no matter how cheap. Few on OB would have had experience with this tent. Glad you are happy with the tent, as many OBers will :)

I tested one in store, a week before this deal - to check out what was cheap to get on the $10 off deal I posted. My opinion was based on that short trial, many years of hiking with small (usually cheap, but also expensive borrowed) tents, plus the 1 older online review concerning the smell.

Was not that impressed by the design but the price was cheap (no cover over entrance - exposing the interior of the tent to rain - no fun getting caught in prolonged rain, probably hot, etc). Don't know how you put up with it "through torrential storms numerous times"? Tents are no fun in that situation. But a better designed tent is worth it, and need not be expensive. (Some cheapies are better designed than others.) My favourite tent (bought from Anaconda) is much lighter than this, but cost $90 - my most expensive tent purchase.

I asked staff who would buy this tent, I was told it was mainly sold for children to use in the backyard - Anaconda's suggested use on their site!

But I also posted many would be happy given the price, and limited use they would put the tent to, including single use (eg festivals). Many may never use the tent - just buying another "bargain". But there were so many other products on Anaconda to choose from with $10 off price & $10 off shipping.

I certainly agree with your single use / recyclable use for this tent. [Consider backpacker hostels at major departure cities or hiking spots - great sources of free camping gear. (I have too many free tents already, which are passed on.) Free almost full gas cylinders are common in many countries as you can not fly with them, so I just take a stove that fits the most common cylinder.] Have taken a recycled free 400g tarp & ground sheet as a tent to 3000m in Japan, and gave it away to mountain rescue. Now I usually travel without a tent in Japan, sleeping under shelter sheds or on the beach. So a good lightweight mat & sleeping bag are more important, imo. Travelling light is best, and carry-on-only saves on airfares & hassle (Jetstar: $120 extra return for bag to Japan).

My AAA batteries (8 for $1.96) were delivered. Good on Anaconda for honouring this deal.

bruce, no biggie. They were selling so fast the website jammed. I don't spose my assessment would have helped sell it any quicker. At the end of the day, its just a cheap tent for whatever.

:-) It's always better to hear experiences from people who have used the item.
(I was trying to move people away from the tent onto the other deals, as many may never use the tent. Better to leave them for those who will use them.)

  • Got my tent today

  • Got my rope. As I complained about their web site they are also sending me a tent for the original $9.95. Nice customer service.

    • They are good my sons placed orders also to my address and they rang to say it would be a few more days and will Send together and it came today, ordered other bits not the tent
Will support them in the future
