  • anyone got one and care to comment?

  • sweet deal,
the boom box is pretty good from what i've heard from my mates one

  • have tested it in store.
    It sounds pretty good.

I already have 2 speaker sets so I don't need it.

In case it is on sale and I can't stop myself, I will place it under my pillow.

  • Edit: I thought this was for the mobile boombox. It's for the larger version, apparently.

  • Isn't this the older version to the mobile boombox? or different spec?

    • It's the "older version" of the Logitech UE Boom (not mobile):

    • The UE Wireless Boombox and the Mobile Boombox are different.
This can be considered the "bigger brother" of the Mobile Boombox.

  • I'm looking for a champion who may be able answer this riddle;

If a bluetooth dongle were plugged into a desktop PC would it be possible to stream from said PC to such a bluetooth device? i.e. Would the dongle provide a bridge that the (in this case) boombox would recognise. Or in other words - I'm trying to work around the absence of a PC not having blutooth but streaming to a BT device.

your pc needs to be on to power the BT dongle isn't it?
most modern motherboards has built in BT (so plan that in your next upgrade).

but it really depends on how the driver interface is, hit and miss.
I found that PC BT is quite finicky, you might be better off buying a china mobile phone and use it to stream instead.

tldr: to answer your question, you need a dongle that supports stereo A2DP BT capabilities.

my cheap bluetooth dongle off meritline/dealextreme works fine with my ubuntu HTPC for streaming to my jambox. so yeah, you can definitely get it to work.

as above, just make sure the bluetooth adapter supports A2DP (most should, i'd imagine).

      • thanks team for your answers.

Well i think most of you missed the most important thing.. That is windows 7 does not natively support A2DP capabilities. Linux as i understand might include drivers for it. Seems to work fine for Android and iOS. As for a windows phone who knows? It is amazing how Microsoft can utterly fail in this part where everyone else has managed to support it.

Sure you can buy a Bluetooth adapter for $A2.50 that can output to a Bluetooth speaker/ bluetooth reciever(~$5+) to ordinary speakers but only if you have the A2DP drivers.

Drivers are around $30+. I did test one can't remember which manufacturer.. Maybe Samsung or ASUS. The drivers work with most Bluetooth adapters and its much more advance then the default one in Windows, however it will become a trial version and disabled in 30 days unless your Bluetooth dongle is their brand. Currently you cannot pay to upgrade to a full version to support third-party devices.

They are pretty much forcing you to buy their Bluetooth device to use their AD2P software. (ie buy a laptop from them)

or just find out the manufacturer of the bluetooth chip in your dongle, and download the chip-maker's bluetooth driver?

i'm sure you can get it working without paying $30…will try it at home, and report back.

        • how'd you go?

        • sorry, had drinks after work and forgot…

will try to do it tonight…after drinks again, but i'll try to remember! :)

        • sorry for taking so long to get back to you…been busy!

i tried it on my windows 7 netbook, and it works perfectly! no idea what imcold is banging on about!

i didn't have to pay $30+ dollars…the device drivers installed themselves automatically, and once they installed, it connected to my jambox and works fine!

i can't promise every bluetooth dongle will work with windows 7, but my cheap $1 one does!

Great deal. I almost bought one of these last week from DSE for $247 but decided to hold out for a better price.

I'll almost certainly buy this now, but the Bose soundlink mini announced yesterday has thrown a spanner in the works. By all preliminary accounts it's bloody good, and much smaller than the boombox.

Are we 100% sure about the $100 itunes bonus? It's not mentioned on GG website and I can't check facebook link at the moment.

    • This is a screenshot of the Facebook link.

The participating retailers are clickable and take you directly to the product page too.
Might pay to call TGG to confirm before buying online though, just to be safe.

      • cheers. TGG just down the road so I'll go check it out at lunchtime.

        • Good luck! Let us know how you go :)

TGG near me know nothing about the $100 itunes bonus and I cant find any solid info on ligitech site how to actually get it. So I decided not to buy just yet.

I did check out the speakers and they're pretty good, but a couple of gripes:

          • sound isn't brilliant. pretty heavy in the low end.
          • clearly audible hiss from the speakers, especially at low volume.
          • probably a bit big in size for what I want. I need something to replace my old MM50's, which were just small/light enough to be able to travel with. The boombox isn't.
  • how is sound quality for this uni?

    • see my comments above. for this price it's good I guess, but IMO it's a no where near as good as Bose soundlink II that I heard recently (but the bose costs more).

  • For the record, the Logitech rep on Facebook said that JB will price match this.

  • TGG logo now missing on Facebook promo. Hmmmm

JB also have stickered at $197 now. Couldn't resist, bought one.

  • So anyone get the $100 itunes yet?

    • yeah I got $100 itunes yesterday, on the spot from JB.

The manager wasn't aware of the deal but checked and said no problem. He didn't know if it was by redemption or not, but just grabbed a card off the shelf and authorised.

I don't think this deal is actually at TGG though. JB is your best bet

If anyone is still looking at this …

    • my local Good Guys (Brighton, Vic) was not selling them for $197 and did not have the $100 iTunes promo
    • JB at Southland was selling them for $247 but the rep knew nothing of the deal. There was also nothing on the JB website. However she scanned both the unit and a $100 iTunes card and discovered that the iTunes card scanned as $0 cost … so yes, JB were doing the iTunes card. She was also happy to match the HN price of $246.
    • Nice motion. I went into this thing like an arab. TGG would do $197 but no icard. I went to JB and said price match from 247 to 197 and check your website for the 100 icard. they said it's either or and after getting a manager i said i'll take both thanks. not interested until i said fine - for 50 bucks i'll go back to TGG or go see our mate harv. they said we want your custom and voila!
