The EURO has been appreciating a lot lately and is still doing so. The price might actually be a few cents higher than claimed in the initial post.

  • I didn't quite understand what you mean about the currency conversion.
    But at this time it cost "$27.20 AUD" with PayPal Conversion Rate as of 5 Jun 2013: 1 Australian Dollar = 0.709380 Euros

    • What part? I mentioned currency conversion multiple times. The part about saving money is, whenever you exchange the currency yourself, the conversion rate is better than when you check out and don't have the Euro balance, yet you still have to pay in Euros. Example

      (i) You exchange currency beforehand to your Euro balance (figures are not correct but used to simplify)
      1 AUD -> 0.72 EUR

      (ii) If you check out directly and do not have the specific balance beforehand it will become
      1 AUD -> 0.69 EUR.

      For some reason if PayPal has to exchange the currency DURING check-out, they will increase the charge.

      My price was noted as the current market price www.xe.com, I suppose my $26.50 was a little bit off (EUR/USD has been appreciating quite a bit over the last 2 days and still is). But perhaps that was because you used the (ii) option?

      I hope I made things a bit clearer with this.

      • I paid the extra 2.5% (I should have waited) cannot download the game for a few days until my internet resets so that was a little silly off me.

        I think the problem I had was I couldn't work out how to convert the currency of my paypal balance in PayPal's interface I only found a panel which told me what it would cost under their exchange rate or surcharge if you'd call it that.

        Maybe if someone could let me know how to do it in PayPal's interface I will know for future purposes. I guess this translate into anything I buy on PayPal, I guess then it would be a good idea to stock up on other currencies when the exchange rate is good and if I never use that currency again change it back at another good time.

        Really it's all too complicated for me. I like to keep things simple. So in the end I'm probably better off just paying an extra 2.5%.

        Thank you for taking the time to try and make things clearer for me.

        • Yup! Anything with another currency should be added to your designated currency balance first! Saves some money, although we are just speaking about matter of 3-6 cents per dollar, it will be a nice saving if you purchase frequently.

          I uploaded some pictures on TinyPic for you. First you'd have to add funds to PayPal (which should be free of charge, at least where I live) -> http://i44.tinypic.com/eh0od1.png -> After adding funds you hit the Currency Converter. You will now see http://i40.tinypic.com/34otta9.jpg - simply add the currency you want (EUR in this case) and convert!

          You are welcome! Thank you for your purchase.

        • Thank you :). I might go ahead and purchase Sleeping Dogs now for a little test since I have some funds in my paypal account.

          Funny story, I was already at that page before. http://i40.tinypic.com/34otta9.jpg
          I just didn't see the continue button to make the conversion. I thought this was to work out ahead how much it would cost to make the conversion when going through checkout.

          Though I still might leave this function alone for currencies I don't use often.

          I converted 4.99AUD to EUR and got 3.59EUR. When I calculated a conversion back to AUD to see if was charging extra (maybe I'm still not understanding this right) It charges $4.72 AUD. If it wasn't charging anything to make the conversion I assumed it would be $4.99 again but this wasn't the case.

          Maybe you lose out if you try and exchange it back. In that case I need to work out how many more AUD to convert to make 4.99EUR. So I can go ahead with the purchase. Sorry I'm being a headache. I shouldn't tread in unknown territory.

        • Yup, you will need to exchange the exact amount you will use. Every financial institution/company charges a fee for each transaction/currency exchange, so changeing it back will cost you. I suppose it comes in handy for those that make frequent purchases with a specific currency, as you said!

          And no problems at all! Keep asking if you are uncertain about things :) I'll try to answer what I can, haha.

  • coupon code isnt valid?

    • Apologies, was expired. It's been at around €18.99 standard.
