High Speed HDMI Cable?

I saw this sign in the local HN store and wondering does the cable ever have speed rate? Mind you the original price is $99.95, 1.8 metre,3.4Gbits/s.

Seems it is just standard verion 1.3 or 1.4 cable. Does speed matter that much?

  • 3.4Gbps is a requirement of 1.3 or 1.4. It matters for 3D, 4K or 48 frames video.

    So no, it isn't special.

Definitely a massive rip off at that price!
At 1.8m even the nastiest quality cable would be fine.
If you're running a long distance (ie greater than 15m) then cable quality might start to become an issue.

HN are taking you for a ride with that. HDMI cables are about 3 dollars delivered on eBay.
