Good Speakers/iPod Dock for outdoor parties

I need a really good new set of speakers or decent ipod dock for outdoor parties. Doesn't need to be waterproof or anything, as it will be undercover, but it needs to have good build quality. Needs to be able to have the volume maxed out for long periods without blowing the speakers. Needs to be semi portable. AC Powered is ok. Doesn't need to be audiophile quality, but needs to be loud and have good bass for the doof doof. Willing to spend a bit on it if its good.

I'd love to get the Bose SoundDock 10 coz they are awesome but $800 is a bit steep.

I've been angling towards the new Bose SoundDock Series III (fits iphone 5). Anyone got any comments on this or know the best place to buy it? I know bose are overpriced but I've had good experiences with them.

I've also tried the Sony RDH-GTK11iP (the big boom box with ipod dock and the carry handle and the gimmicky light-up speakers). That was pretty cool, could've been better though. I've also heard Kicker is good, and good value. But haven't been able to find much info on best model and cant find any local suppliers or good pricing.

Anyone help me out here? I'm thinking the Bose series III isnt going to be big enough to pump music across my whole back yard. Would the Kicker do it? Any info on the Kicker range and where to buy would be appreciated.

I'm really looking for something more powerful than that. I've got a Jabra Solemate for inside, but I need something that can really blast across the whole back yard. Maybe I need something like this instead: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/pro-dj/speakers/

Any suggestions on a good quality PA speaker(s) with iPod Dock?

Just found out Sony has a new one out - RDHGTK37IP same as the 33iP but with bluetooth and NFC and iphone 5 dock. Yummy.

I've got a jawbone big jambox and they are amazingly loud for its size. At max volume, its actually uncomfortably loud. They retail for around $350 at JB Hifi, but I bought mine for $270 from an electronics store in Ringwood, Melbourne.

I bought that for 240.00 delivered, the sound actually gets better mid volumne up. This will blast across a yard or you could use it for dj'ing

      Nice! I'd be hesitant with only 3 months warranty though. I've had an older model and the dock connector and USB connector was a bit iffy with certain iPod models.

    The one at DSE for $279 is the smaller, weaker, older model. But I guess they must have just got the memo that there is a new model out and are dropping the prices to clear stock.
