800 x 600 resolution. I must be going insane, are they serious?

    • +1

      ?

It clearly states FHD on the product link.

    • +1

Time for a mental evaluation then, it's FHD :)

    • +3

800x600 is better than you get on Ch 7, 9, or 10.

  • This TV was around $2,400 end of last year. The price dropped pretty quickly.

    Product link. It's FHD, you're going insane^

    • +1

Thanks for link Kugz did look but couldnt find

  • +1

Rubbish. I got my Samsung 64" plasma for $1470.

    • Where did you brought that from? Still on sales?

      • No it was the previous model and it was during the Easter sale at Good Guys.

        • Samsung is a lot better brand than Hisense that's for sure.

        • +1

          Plasma =/= LED

LEDs are normally much more expensive but a lot cheaper to run

        • +1

Samsung Plasma is pretty shitty. Hisense is actually pretty decent.

        • +1

          Samsung are junk.

        • slightly cheaper to run.

          .
          .
          .
          .
          .

          (but far inferior)

        • You base that on what?

At 65" you will see some horrible artifacts of standard def materials if the encoding is not good.

They used to be rubbish, could be better now, I personally don't know.

    • -1

      3d with smarts?

      • Of course.

  • Just so you're aware… If anything goes wrong, Hisense will only offer to replace it with a refurbished TV. No discussions entered into.

    • +3

Under the Australian Consumer law YOU have the right to choose whether you get a refund, replacement or repair not Hisense.

      • no you don't, under the new consumer law it is what is reasonable.

They can fix it, replace it or refund it…depends on what is wrong with the product

        • I was going to quote the ACL but this is easier - http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/…

The ACCC disagrees with you. Although if it is a minor defect they can offer to repair the problem rather than refund or replace it (but it's still your choice).

"When you have a major problem with a product, you have the right to ask for your choice of a replacement or refund".

Either way reasonable isn't the test is whether it's a major problem or not. Even then they cannot force you to accept a refurbished replacement, only a repair.

        • you have the right to ask

        • That's just the ACCC writing diplomatically.

259 Action against suppliers of goods

                   (2) If the failure to comply with the guarantee can be remedied and is not a major failure:

                           (a) the consumer may require the supplier to remedy the failure within a reasonable time; or

                           (b) if such a requirement is made of the supplier but the supplier refuses or fails to comply with the requirement, or fails to comply with the requirement within a reasonable time—the consumer may:

                                    (i) otherwise have the failure remedied and, by action against the supplier, recover all reasonable costs incurred by the consumer in having the failure so remedied; or

(ii) subject to section 262, notify the supplier that the consumer rejects the goods and of the ground or grounds for the rejection.

                   (3) If the failure to comply with the guarantee cannot be remedied or is a major failure, the consumer may:

                           (a) subject to section 262, notify the supplier that the consumer rejects the goods and of the ground or grounds for the rejection; or

                           (b) by action against the supplier, recover compensation for any reduction in the value of the goods below the price paid or payable by the consumer for the goods.

Consumer guarantees are listed here - http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/C2013C00004/Html/Volume_3#_…

I stand by my original statement that it's the consumer who has the choice not the retailer or manufacturer (albeit it depends on the fault etc) and Hisense refusing to do anything but a replacement of a refurbished product is not on.

    • +1

They also "never have any stock for replacement of that particular model" when you ring their helpline.

      • +1

Not just that, they will break down within months.

  • +1

I remember looking at a hisense 55" a while back - decided Hisense wasn't for me when after a few minutes of trying and after calling hisense was told I cannot switch off their smoothflow. I told them it's a serious oversight and if I want to watch a movie in 24P, that's how I want it with no frame interpolation… Makes me feel sea-sick.. assuming the quality is there, and the set does allow native 24P and has the ability to turn off smoothmotion/naturalflow/whatever they call it, then I'd say not a bad price..

    • +2

Motion flow was only a problem on early version. Has since been fixed with firmware update Can confirm can now switch off

  • Hisense is a crap brand.

    • +3

Why? Because they aren't Samsung or Sony?

      • -2

        Samsung > Sharp > Sony (they don't even make plasma) > ???

        • +5

It seems that you missed the point entirely…

        • My rubbish bin is called Samsung now.

    • +2

I have been using a Hisense for about 3yrs, and never had a problem, I would not hesitate to purchase another.

I have problems with equipment from other brands and can honestly say I have never been 100% happy with their customer service post purchase. I think most companies are on par these days.

    • +1

      on what basis?

  • +3

not low enough to make me consider a Hisense

    • +2

      Makes sense

    • +1

$500 plus 5 years warranty and I might think about it.

  • i think this is a decent price for a 65 inch tv.

i want to know from people's experiences if hisense is a decent brand?

    • +3

Well, their arena is actually pretty decent, so if their TVs are as good as their arenas…

      • +1

It was Vodaphone Arena, I am not sure if Vodaphone customers would would judge their service based on the arena.

    • Plenty of good reviews online. And the good and bad here
      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1953519

    • Don't trust anyone here, go to the shop and check it out yourself.

Compare with other TV and you'll know.

  • +3

HiSense is a pretty decent Chinese brand.

    • Find me the cheapest (& nastiest) 65"+ Chinese TV please OzBargain… Thanks in advance! xx

Edit: requirements are a FHD screen, one HDMI input. That is all.

  • This was 1699$ at Easter with jb 15% of sale. Great unit at 200 hz

  • +1

TV's keep getting bigger. Do they look pixely? Same resolution larger screen?

    • 65" is so last decade. You can get sizes up to 90" and 94" now.

    • Just sit further back.

      • I'll just sit in the back yard and look through the window, shall I?

  • active 3D? would be perfect if passive. but still very good price.

    • Comes with only 1 pair of 3d glasses

  • just asked both jb hi fi maroochydore and kawana will not match the liverpool store price
