One of the best games in the series is on sale currently. Doesn't seem to have decreased in price since release so this is your best chance snagging it cheap if you've been holding off (like myself…).

Game clocks in at a hefty 1.5gb for Android and just under 1gb for iPad. Enjoy!

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on Sale now. Expand your Rockstar Games Collection.
Welcome back to Vice City. Welcome back to the 1980s.

From the decade of big hair, excess and pastel suits comes a story of one man's rise to the top of the criminal pile. • Apparently incompatible with my Xperia Sola o_O

    • really? It used to be compatible, i've still got it on mine

    • try both links, as one may be compatible while the other is not, thats how it is why my Xperia play

    • The cheaper one (AU$1.92) cannot be installed on any of my devices because

This item cannot be installed in your device's country

7c is the price you need to pay to live in the lucky country :(

  • Cool waiting for this to go on sale. Great on ipad

  • yeah not compatible with Xperia Z either :(

    • +1

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy0h5OU-FAA

try both links as one may be compatible while the other is not, that's what happened to me with my Xperia play

      • YOu're right. First link Nexus 7 works. The second link, none of my devices.

      • thanks yeah tried both and still no go for Xperia Z. Still i did take advantage of the $30 credit which was free with Xperia Privilege for Xperia Z owners…better than nothing still, cant replace GTA VC, its a great game.

        • What is the $30 you speak of? I've got a Xperia Z, never heard of this.

  • I've already owned and played this game on Pc, any reason to get it on android too? Great game btw

    • +2

      Because its a great game.

    • I personally more bought GTA 3 because I was happy Rockstar ported a great game to Android. I've finished it on console and PC, but GTAs are always worth another play through, and generally the train is the most convenient time :)

      Just bought VC and downloading.

  • Anyone know if this works on Aussiepad?

  • -1

Most of what made VC the best most memorable of the series was the music which the mobile version does not have :-(

    • Damnit, I hope to god you're wrong — I bought this mainly to listen to VCPR and V-ROCK. :(

      • Saved me two bucks, I was buying it for the radio also.

Edit/ actually the music probably is present in the Android version. It weighs in at 400mb more than the ipad version and a couple of reviews on play store mention it.

        • I bought GTA3 and it didn't have music (or if it did I didn't know how to turn it on). Maybe too many licensing issues involved?

        • +9

GTA3 has the radio stations. By default they are turned on also. In the bottom left hand corner you can see a station name and swipe it left or right to change stations.

I'm downloading Vice City now and will check it for music also.

EDIT: All music is in Vice City for Android - including VROCK and VCPR :)

        • +1

Thanks for confirming. Purchase coming right up!

    • Thought id better clarify this, as i almost didn't buy the game based on these comments.

The iOS version definitely has the music and radio stations. I was just jamming out to VRock then.

Works great on my iPhone 4 and iPad 3

  • Not compatible with Asus Transformer TF101 Damn!

    • try both links, as on my Xperia play one links says its compatible, the other does not

  • Top game. I paid a bit more for it a week ago but not too fussed as I used the $30 Telstra pre paid credit that I bought for $10.

  • It's not yet compatible with the Xperia Z, does anyone know if it's possible to purchase from the Play Store now, and then download it when it eventually becomes compatible?

    • +1

I just looked into this (have TF101, looking to buy newer android device this year).

If your device is rooted, you can use "Market Helper": http://codekiem.com/2013/02/13/market-helper/

Masks your device to a compatible one to make purchase, then reverts after a reboot.

I want to do this for GTA:VC and need for speed, also on sale.

      • -1

        what does rooted mean?

        • Unsecured kernal. Allows user to access higher functions and make changes to the system.

        • do i do this in settings or is it some kind of jailbreak thing like a cydia but for android

        • The latter. Google the name of your phone along with XDA for details.

        • just remember if you root your Xperia Z, I saw on a You Tube video that you loose the Bravia 2 engine. Not 100% if this is true, but i rather like the difference with the Bravia Engine so I might not root mine…. anyone like to comment on if this is actually the case?

        • Yeah you lose your Bravia Engine and DRM (forget extactly what this does)…Although you can back them up prior and they can be restored if needed. Look on XDA for more info.

try both links as one is compatible on my xperia play the other is not

  • This app is incompatible with all of your devices.

    I have a HTC Desire HD, Nexus 7 and a Sony Xperia Z …

    Oh well, saved $1.99

    • Did you get your free $30 PSN credit from your Experia Z?

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/101897

If you have no need of one I'd be happy to buy it from you ;)

      • Thanks for the link, sorry I'll be using mine.

  • +1

Great game. Spent far too much of my teenage life playing Vice City haha. Great soundtrack too.

  • Does anyone know if your save files are kept on a cloud somewhere? I bought GTAIII on iOS and this wasn't the case. Might pick it up for my android device instead this time around as I'm sure you can backup the save file somehow

    • You could back up with Titanium Backup and auto upload it to whichever cloud you like.

    • +1

IOS version has cloud saves. Been alternating between my iPhone and iPad. Awesome feature.

  • My game is stuck on downloading additional files. any one else have this problem?

    • I've had it happen before, I usually just look for a torrent containing the files and get them there.

      • I was talking about an android game from the market. not torrents

        • I am too, if you find a torrent of this game you can simply install the extra data from there.

  • Thank you, OP! Have been waiting for this to come down :)

  • +1

    I loved that diaz dude
    and the band manager
    he was hilarious

  • No Xperia Z support ;_;

  • You can't use cheats on this can you?

I remember the days when used to go to my neighbour's place to play this and me mum got angry when I didn't come home in time for dinner :D ahh good times xD

edit: looks like there are no cheats for ipads unless you have a transformer tablet with a keyboard.

  • Oh, the joy of owning an Android phone!

    • You do know it's on sale for ios as well?

      • -3

        Who cares?

        • Just a guess here, but probably people with ios devices… I may be wrong

        • -4

What I mean is why are you making his comment Apple/Android? The guy is simply stating he is happy with his Android.

  • For people who are using incompatible android devices and wants to buy this game now, use Market Helper http://codekiem.com/2013/02/13/market-helper/

I was able to buy this game on my Huawei X3 with the $30 Telstra credit, will now install it on my Nexus 4 (thats with LC) :)

    • THIS APP IS FOR ROOTED DEVICES ONLY

Darn. Well, thanks for the info anyway.

  • -1

So anyone know the difference between the two links of the same game? (besides being $0.07 cheaper and can't install on Aussie devices. And some compatibility issues)

I fear it might be that the $1.99 one is the censored Aussie version.

  • Cheers op :)
