Pretty useless for my Reliant Robin. Any chance on 3 for the price of 2?

      Spare wheel!

      • But none of them would want to be the third wheel.

    • Chuck it on your passenger seat as weight ballast to stop you from rolling around corners!

What, and take the fun out of driving it?

Personal recommendation for RE001 (Subaru Liberty) and RE002 (Subaru WRX). Both have been awesome for the two cars.

I'm just about to buy new boots for Libby, so thanks for the heads up!

      • You're right the last one was for Continental.

due for some new tyres, though chances are the price is mysteriously 33% more per tyre this month that last ;)

    • i've been watching and quoting for about 8 weeks now on tyres, i can confirm that the prices haven't gone up.

Getting 4 x 225/45/17's for my wife's golf (RE002's) on the weekend for $777 fitted and balanced

      • who are you buying them through?

a few months ago i was looking for Bridgestone Potenza tyres for my car(19' staggered etc…) and Bridgestone Select was the most expensive quote i got. They quoted me 2400@!!! i ended up buying 2 on ebay and 2 from Costco for $330/tyre. Buy 3 get the 4th free means nothing, tyre market is very "dirty"!

I'd say that's not a bad price for 19' tyres.

      • Not if you can get them for less than half the money after doing some research

        • Really, less than $300 for a 19' (228") tyre?

The world's largest production tyre is nearly a quarter the size of your tyre and costs about $55k each so yeah, I'd say it's not a bad price.

Oh sorry, was that a typo?

        • no, not a typo, i meant 19 minutes and not feet :P

  • Highly recommend the re070 over the re001. Standard tyre on the older model Sti wrx and jdm fd2 civic type R. But does cost more and only comes jn 17" upwards

    • seems like the site is down! wtf being ozbargained

  • For anyone in the market for new tyres, call around and negotiate. Prices vary quite a bit between dealers a few suburbs away.

Keep in mind that tyres have a shelf life and will deteriorate after about 5 years regardless of whether or not they're being driven. Half price isn't a good deal on a 3 year old tyre unless you're doing high kilometres or a lot of fully sik burn outs

    • Rule no 1: Always check production date on each tyre! :)

      • How? Is it moulded into the writing on the wall?
Clearly or obtusely formatted date info?
Is it still visible after being fitted?

        • Production date is visible after fitting and is embossed in the WKYR format. So for a tyre manufactured in the first week of January 2012 it would say 0112 and last week of December, 5212

No doubt when you go to buy the tyres, you'll be offered a "great price" on 3 tyres which equals the price of 4 tyres normally.
