Asus TF300T 32GB Tablet with Dock $428 + Shipping @ Dick Smith (Home Delivery Only)

130

Have been looking for one of these tablets for my sister and stumbled across this great price at Dick Smith. $428 for the 32GB model with keyboard dock included. It was home delivery only which was for me in Melbourne $9.95

I went to Officeworks who have it for $527. They price matched it with shipping included which brought it to $437.95 but then took the 5% discount which brought it down to $416.05

Very happy with this price so hopefully others will be to.

cbs android. Would have been better if it was a windows tablet

    • Forget Windows 8, seriously.

Android is what you want for a tablet.

      • Completely agree.

I don't see the point of Windows 8 and have no need to migrate when there are still so many programs I use that are not compatible.

Windows 8 should be pretty much compatible with 90% of the programs you use on your Windows Laptop/PC.

I think you are mistaking it for Windows 8 RT which is similar to Android in terms of the back-end, it only supports programs which were written specifically for ARM.

Really depends on what you want, I find that Windows 8 Pro works very well for me, and it is more productive for me than my TF300T which i used to have.

I do wonder if they have fixed the random reboots on TF300T since I last had mine.

        • I haven't had any issue with random reboots on mine.

    • Except you'd have negative disk capacity because Windows 8 takes up about 40GB of space. At least that was the last I heard on the Surface Pro.

      • If you want to run Windows 8 on your PC, here's what it takes:

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2 (more info)
        RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

So no, it does not take 40GB of space, but for Surface Pro users it leaves 40GB of usable space for the user (because the x86 version of Surface's SSD is 60GB).

I'd grab it if it was windows. Just a personal thing- but i just found running a windows pc, iphone, and android tablet a bit annoying…

    • Ditch the Windows PC.

        Ditch the iPhone

        Fixed for you

      • And rely on an Xbox 360/PS3 for games? No thanks…

I bought one of these a while back for around $100 more. Great tablet.

  • WiFi model.

    • Yes it is the Wi-Fi model.

I will update with the specs.

  • Great tablet with one of the fastest (just behind the nexus line) official firmware updates thanks to ASUS :D

  • Great tablet… got mine on "Clearance" for $470 delivered so good price. Most places will be more than this price for the 16GB without dock.

  • Excellent deal. It's been a while since these came down in price. Lowest it's ever been to my knowledge.

  • I got one of these about a year ago when Harvey made that pricing error. In true Ozbargain style got it price beaten at Officeworks, and then got the tax back from the TRS.

Its the only tablet I've had but its great. The keyboard is surprisingly good for typing on, battery lasts a full day of use, screen is fine for watching videos on. The expandable storage is great, and the USB port is mainly used for a portable hard drive that has all my uni work on.

    highly recommended!

  • Man this is still really holding it's value! I bought mine for about $60 more back in September last year. Great tablet though.

  • How would this go for emulating? I've been looking into getting a tablet for a while, and was holding out for the new Nexus 7, since I've been told it's as good as you can get for emulating and is obviously substantially cheaper than this one? Thanks in advance!

    • I was looking at the Nexus as well but no expandable memory is a deal breaker for me.
