Did you check what I have said in my post before comment no stock item?

  • "up to 200mbps", but it only has 100mbps ethernet ports (not gigabit) so I don't see how you would get more than 100mbps out of it. I think better to spend a bit more (or wait for a better special) to get a higher speed one. Or invest in a high-speed wireless router (>=600mbps).

    • Actually no 200mbps model can do real 100mbps ethernet speed.

    • There is no gigabit Ethernet-over-Power technology.
100mbps is about as good as you could expect even if they claim 200mbps is possible in lab situations.

EDIT: Stock at West Lakes in SA

      • Speeds all depend on your in-wall wiring.

        Wires = Ethernet cable

No, Ethernet cable has 8 conductors.
Your in-wall wiring, whilst a lower gauge, has only 2 conductors. (3 if you count the earth).
Actual Ethernet will win for speed/reliability every time.

        • Well, from personal experience (albeit limited time) after getting the Aldi TP-link units on the weekend, the TP-link units are quicker than 10m of Cat5e cable.

Also, they took approx 3 seconds to pair. They just work, first time (and so far everytime).

        • They'll certainly be quicker than Cat5e cable with a banana connected to both ends.

As for beating proper gigabit Cat5e… nah, you're dreaming.

        • Impossible.. Cat5e can go up to 1Gbps.

      • I have a few Belkin gigabit EOP devices……

    • (or wait for a better special) to get a higher speed one

visit aldi asap for cheaper 500mbps :)

No idea about this item, but personal experience with NETGEAR is a very buggy crashing NAS. Wouldn't buy NETGEAR again.

    • i have been using this item for more than one year, it works well but the max speed i got was around 40-50 mbps. No problems with my media server, it streams hd video to the tv's perfectly. it's not the best product but for that price it's a bargain

    • Totally with you, netgear is reliable as using a hair dryer to clean the bottom of your pool.

    • The only reason I have a Netgear router is as a warning to my other routers. I keep it chained up downstairs under the house, feeding it scraps from the garbage and rainwater from the gutters. And if my Netcomm ever plays up, I take it downstairs to have a little chat with the Netgear: my network connection smartens right up after that.

      • Meant to be a plus, stupid fat fingers.

  • Optus offer them to customers for $20

  • Hm this seems better than the Aldi TP-Link PoE adaptors they had over the weekend. They were only point to point, although "apparently" they run at 500mbps.
