Telstra Smart Touch 2 $14.83, T95 $14.83 at Target

190

Cheap Android mobile for only under $15, spotted these at Target Watergardens VIC while searching for the Lumia 610 and HTC Desire S to no avail, plenty left but it seems only pink one is available, that's why I didn't buy it.

The store also has the Telstra T95 for the same price, photo here http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq242/totomvn/2013-04-251…

I'm sure this has a lot of uses, but if you want a general-purpose Android phone, spend a few extra bucks to get the y201.

    • yeah, with more than twice the price, not just a few extra bucks. But it should only be used as a spare phone.

      • Your phone service costs at least $20-30 / month, so if using it as a phone the difference is tiny.
OTOH, if no SIM and just games or MP3 player for the kids, thats different.

        • join vaya, half the price for monthly services

  • $14.83 is for Pink ONLY… Black is $19.83 ! I bought a Pink one few days ago… Also Smart Touch 1 for $9.83

    • smart touch 1 is real junk. resistive screen, honestly $27 after flybuys reward for yhe Huawei is too hard to go past.

      • but Smart Touch 1 can unlock for free online, Smart Touch 2 can't… Regret that I didnt buy the Smart Touch 1 together, it cost me abt $5 to unlock Smart Touch 2 which double the price already + Smart Touch 1 is not in PINK

        • Hi

  • $14.83 for a phone that is so cheap. You can buy it as a toy for the kids. Amazing how phones have come down in prices.

  • Got last 2 from the Glen. Angry birds for the kids lol.

  • You can't unlock this phone for free. No good

  • Cheaper than buying a standalone GPS system, might get one dedicated for the car and install Tomtom.
Edit: with only 27MB of internal memory… it's not possible :(

Thanks OP. Just picked up a $9.83 Telstra Smart Touch. No idea what the difference from Smart Touch 2 is, but who cares.
The sales guy told me he bought one as well even though he had no use for it. Sounded like an OzBargainer in the making, so I casually mentioned ING PayWave while I was paying for it.

He still has much to learn, young ozbargainer.

lol, but be careful, once he master the skills, all bargains from Target will be gone before we get there!

  • Plenty of the Telstra Smart Touch 2's left at Target, Macquirie Centre, NSW.

Just picked up a pink one for my niece.

  • At least two Smart Touch 2 pinks left at Adelaide city (SA) store btw.

    • one…

      • There's another one at Hollywood Plaza now, as I returned mine
        Ha!

        • Sorry what was wrong with the phone?

        • +1

          Couldn't unlock for free :-P

        • So you can return a prepaid even after you open it then?
or did you just use the imei?

        • I gave it a bit of a charge and dropped the network-unlock-attempt count down to 6, but otherwise returned it in pretty much the same condition. Not that the Target staff cared.

        • Thank you for reply

  • Picked up the Telstra Smart Touch for $5.01 from Doncaster Westfield Target yesterday. Ticket on front said it was missing the starter kit (after all the $10 for $30 starter kits, I had no need for another one anyway!). It was also missing the stylus and stereo headset, but what ya gonna do at that price? At least it still had the 2Gb Micro SD card inside it. After getting the Huawei y201 and the Lumia 610, I had no need for this phone, but couldn't resist for $5.01!

  • Can someone please advise on reliable website for unlocking the Telstra Smart Touch 2 ? Someone mentioned $5. Which website ?

  • +2

US $10 here if you register (US $12 if you don't register) http://www.lasaupp.se/en/tools/network-services . I used it yesterday to unlock the Telstra Smart Touch 2 that my wife bought. Code was delivered immediately and worked fine. Perhaps the poster above will let everyone know where they got a code for $5.

  • got the last smart touch at airport west (melb) and the last telstra broadband stick for 9.83.

    NOICE

then lo and behold it would not charge - not matter what i tried.
took it to the local telstra store who will 'investigate' - hopefully just provide a new phone of equivelant or better.

  • A few T95 still available at Target Elizabeth SA

Is it possible to get this without ID?

  • Got the last one at Target Tuggeranong in ACT and just got it unlocked. For those who bought this and want it unlocked, you can get it done for $8.40 here:

    http://www.unlocking.net.au/en/tools/brand-zte/model-t760/co…

The price shows $12 to unlock, but when you register and login, the price changes to $8. These guys are operated by VGPhones, who has made quite a few posts on OzBargain.

Once you create an account, you need to make a deposit into your account (via paypal). Make sure you deposit only $8. There's a 5% paypal charge, so total would be $8.40.

Once you provide your phone IMEI and submit the request, the unlock code gets displayed on screen and a copy emailed to you almost instantly.

    Hope this helps someone. :)

I've also made a mistake by depositing extra $$. So I've now got extra credit in the account. Unfortunately, I have no use for this and credits do expire. Instead of letting this go to waste, first person that PM me will save $2 (that's if you're comfortable with me purchasing the unlock code for you) - so you only pay $6.

    • you should be able to put the paypal credit back in your bank account should take 3 days to transfer though.

      • you should be able to put the paypal credit back in your bank account should take 3 days to transfer though.

The credit is on unlocking's system, not PayPal. The only way to get it back is if the peeps at VGPhone does a partial PayPal refund.

but why would the software devs sell the software instead of keys themselves? Are those devs legit devs for qualcomm and the like and these tools aren't supposed fall into normal peoples hands? Still very very interesting stuff.

Just a guess, but I think the software sold is likely a client querying the keys from some central system. There are probably bulk pricing arrangements with these small companies to buy XXX number of queries at certain price. So these guys could just be 'resellers'.

    • how do these unlock services work do they just happen to know the hash for the imei number and can brute break it or do they have an inside man working at all the telecos?
I don't see how any of this could be legal I mean it would still work and all just fine. but I also don't see how they can just justify price differences for different phone unlocks.

if they are just using some unlock key generator program how come it's not widely known and available on torrents and what not.

      • There's hardware solutions, which is probably where these little online business spawn from.

        • very interesting. So someones making software for the calculations shifty people buy said software and sell keys using it. but why would the software devs sell the software instead of keys themselves? Are those devs legit devs for qualcomm and the like and these tools aren't supposed fall into normal peoples hands? Still very very interesting stuff.
