Don't forget the shiny green + button!

This is not about my recent submission or any deal in particular.

But I have noticed a trend in people giving positive feedback about how the deal was useful to the (bought it), but not clicking that shiny green button.

I think it's more the excitement/rush of grabbing the deal. And thumbs up they commented.

But anyway please don't underestimate the positive power of the positive button.

It makes the good deals go up, and the bad deals go away :)

And for those that diligently +

    I only vote when I've received the deal entirely.

    Otherwise you get shit like this: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96765

    If the mods modify the voting rules so that you can revoke then vote the other way, I'd be more lenient on + votes.

      The voting system is not a method of displaying whether the deal works for you.
      It's a method of displaying whether you think it worthy of being on OzBargain.

      If you like it enough to even attempt to buy, then you should positive vote.
      If your "common-sense alarm" is ringing because the deal is likely a price-error or is unlikely to be honoured, then fair enough to hold off, but in the vast majority of cases, votes should be made immediately.

    Good point.

    I guess since ozbargain seems to rank the deals on the front page by positive that I thought immediate rating was good.

    But I did not realise you can't change a vote should the deal get derailed.

      You can renege your vote either way
      ie negative to no vote or positive to no vote, but you can't go from Positive to Negative or Vice Versa

    I just go by gut feeling. If I like it, even if I have no use for it soon or even ever, I + it. In the long run and over many forum users this probably delivers the same results as an agonisingly refined policy.

    Thanks for that, I didn't know about it and had to go looking for it. It's not very shiny on my screen, quite dull and pastley actually.
