Seems like a good price for this (usually around $100), cheaper than a Pi 4

    I’ve found this deal tempting, however, I know I won’t use it for anything.
    I bought an old optiplex from eBay, with 8gb and 7th fen proc
    Upgraded another 8gb for $20, added 2 additional network cards , installed proxmox to run:

    Pfsense
    Truenas
    Homeassistant
    Homebridge
    Scripted
    2 containers for transmission
    2 containers for VPN clients (serving the 2 transmission containers above)

    In progress:
    NVR- either Blueiris or frigit to boost my security cameras performance using Coral
    VPN server
    Pi hole
    … pls comment if you know some more VM/CT that are good for home use

    And not sure what more in the future, all in a single machine, with scheduled backup on truenas within, and weekly backups to OneDrive via truenas.

    The downside is the power draw, but it’s serving many purposes with one 24/7 machine.

      nothing really heavy there, you could probably get away with a 10w TDP gemini lake wyse 5070 for $55

        on the contrary my i5 6th laptop with 16GB RAM is pissing when I installed Truenas in Proxmox, always hit 99% CPU utilisation and struggles to cope up.

          Same thing happened, and it crashed and shut down Pfsense, and the house started to complain for having no internet. Chucking extra 16gb and now no issues at all.

          I think the the extra stick doesn't help here as it's the CPU that's being the bottleneck

        I don't think it's required anymore, my pc has never skipped a beat streaming music from Tidal, etc

        I think if you have a digital music on a server, maybe then?

            @m9: Yeah I have tons of digital music, now I send it directly to the streamer. Don't have what to use RPi for lol Haven't bought any deals around here.. Maybe install a Linux distro for practice, because I am a Windows guy.

    Just got a very strangely worded cancellation email:

    Please be informed that since we were running fire sale/ stock clearance offer and as per the t & c the discounted price was applicable only for AU warehouse stock.

    Since AU stock is already exhausted for few of the ordered items we will no longer be able to sell at discounted price.

    Hence the one line from the order is cancelled from our end.

    Um what? Can you rewrite that in English please?

      But I also bought the fan/heatsink so I decided to cancel the order proactively in case they send only the cooler over (where I obviously don't need it alone). When I made my order the website still shows in stock. So obviously someone fed it up that night.

    I know it's very overkill but purchased this for a Pihole.

    I currently have pios in a VM on my NAS - but it's slow since it's HDD based and if there's a power outage it takes about 15 minutes to recover.

    Any suggestions on PSU for these? I'm thinking the official 27w one is probably the better option here.

    As for a case I was thinking a passive aluminum case off of Aliexpress - any suggestions?

    SD card - was going to go with a Samsung Evo

      Mine too (the pi 5), says it was express posted, from Sydney warehouse.

      While the extra case and psu I added are coming separately, from UK warehouse!

      There's a request cancellation option online, when you view the order from memory. It worked for me - cancelled same day (but not instant, they manually check & do it).

    Received email from element14 ,they will cancel my order at the low price offered here to buy at the new NEW HIGH price!. I'm a regular customer of theirs and have probably bought every Raspberry Pi ever available from them.

            @xmagic: Contacted them and was told there were issues with shipping the Pi from Europe and hence taken off their website. They have agreed to free returns and refund of the PSU. Just a hassle and now need to wait for the next good deal to pop up for it.
