    The title says $734.40

Wondering why OP describes this as a good deal when we have had several cheaper Steam Deck deal posts for what appears to be the same base model.

Is this a new and improved variant?

    • best price I could find currently, I said good price, not great!

      • +9

Last two posts call out ~$685 as a good/okay price 💁

        Great at $655.20

        • I don't know why you are picking on the OP, he saw what seems like a decent deal and thought it would be good to share. People should always do their own research before buying.

            @itsmoe: It’s OzBargain, not OzDecent.

No one is picking on OP. Just pointing out it is not a great price so others don’t regret their purchase considering there’s regularly better prices.

@PainToad: Well someone who could be looking for a last minute gift might still find this a decent buy. I'm just saying. OP had good intentions and the other dude is just being plain rude.

So this site should be flooded with every imaginable product at the current best price on the off chance someone wants to buy said random product? No. This place is for genuine bargains, not “best price now if you have to buy now”.

It's none of your concern, other than that, if you don't like it, push the report button.

Definitely we have an uneducated bully here, do you miss your school's bully backyard?

@billadm: Bully? Mate did you even read your comment?
Quote only specific words from what I said, very mature. You must be bored.

The entire point of commenting and neg voting is to let others know if a posts deal is actually a deal or not.

                🤦

$734.40 is an average price it's not the worst if you need it urgently for travel, a present ect. Also currently there are cheaper sellers that are selling them for $718.78

  • +4

    It was $655.20 recently… Almost $100 more?…

  • +6

    Sub 700 is a semi-regular thing.
I bought both of mine for $655.20 and $686.
I wouldn't pay more than $690 because of the costs for upgrades. E.g. micro sd and ssd

It's likely there will be a fair few opportunities from now to the end of the year/start of 2024 to get them sub 700.
Black friday, cyber monday, christmas, boxing day, new years deals

  • 64gb model often comes around at $650ish. Better off waiting and then upgrading the ssd. Best bang for buck!

  • +2

    Patience will pay off

  • The 256gb version appears to be around $950 normal price from amazon with prime. Is it worth getting the 256gb version or does everyone just get the 64gb version and expand with an SD card?

    • +2

No difference between 256gb and 64gb on a hardware level (other than the ssd)
Only perk is you get an exclusive steam profile set, which is definitely not worth it.

Get the 64gb model on sale under 700, buy a 1-2tb 2230 ssd ($75-185 depending on size and model) and a 512gb-1tb micro sd card.
Will come out to less than $950.

  • I want one but I’m holding off till under or around $650

ATM this pricings seem to be the norm. It's up to the individual whether to go for it now or wait for some more time when a better deal does eventually comes up. Bottom line, this unit is a great purchase no matter what.

  • +1

Steam Deck is undeniably the best bang for buck you can get in the handheld PC category.
All the competitors may be more powerful, but they cost much, much more.
I'm very happy with my SD, it's definitely a great piece of hardware.

Get in quick before Jack does

    Hey :(

  • +7

It was 650 from this store yesterday, had it in my cart and they jacked it before i checked out. F these guys

  • I've bought a Steam Deck recently, love it, this is less than I paid but I got the 512GB version.

For those wondering, yeah the screen is nice, both the LCD generally but also the anti-glare coating, I think it's great/works great. I had a 256GB microSD I repurposed (from the Switch), so that for emulation plus the 512GB for steam games, I think that's good enough for me for now. a 512GB microSD is $50 so, that would do you quite well/

Otherwise a M.2 2230 1TB for $80 from Aliexpress is around, do your home work on getting an OS on it and stuff like that, mirroring drives I think is an option, I'd probably go this route instead of the 2TB drive for $180, the bang for buck is 512GB microSD and 1TB M.2 (at the moment and from my limited searching).
