BPS Knives currently have a bit of a sale on with some items on up to 25% off.

I am not (yet) sure if this code stacks with those discounts, but I've bought their knives at full price before and been amazed by the quality, and not even for the price point, but in general quality and finish.

I found ordering directly from BPS gives more choice than their AU amazon store. The last item I ordered was the B1 SSFH, as I wanted a fire steel built in and a stainless blade for cooking prep on camp outs. I also have the carbon model for general bushcraft. Next order will probably be their sharpening kit.

I compared it to the entry level knives, mora etc and the full tang makes it a lot more robust, as far as I can tell its a complete clone of the Ray Mears Woodlore style, as cloned by Condor, but having owned that one I think these are better finished and the grind and steel seems to be better.

The sheath alone is worth a fair bit of money and it properly welded and quality leather.

The only thing out of the box is a coat of danish oil on the handle for outdoors use (personal preference) but the walnut scales are nice to hold and easy to use for everything from fine shavings for fire starting to gouging out a bowl of a spoon and battening small to medium branches for firewood.

My last order took less than 3 weeks from order to door, which given the war is pretty impressive, these are made by a family business in Ukraine. Not sure how long the code is valid for but it is multi use.

TLDR: if you're in the market for a good all round knife that'll probably last a lifetime, these are worth the money and then some. If the code stacks, even more of a bargain!

Mod note:

  • Delivery to Australia – 2-3 months
  • Delivery during the war will take a little longer. Approximately, parcels can be delayed for 2-3 weeks.
  • Delivery from US$15

  • I take it these aren't shipping from within Aus? (Mykilsko-Slobidska St 2v, 02000, Kyiv, Ukraine), Would someone in the know comment on the risk that an order of knives may be confiscated by customs? Thanks.

    • +1

It was marked on the customs declaration as a tool, which it is, I didn't have customs issues with mine.

    • Customs will usually only pull you up on double sided blades. Learnt this when I was young and thought it'd be awesome to order a butterfly knife off ebay lol Obviously it goes a bit deeper then that, but I'd say these are ok

      • +1

Yes, double sided knifes are a no-no but your advice is not quite right. A lot of knives are out. There's a fairly good list of things to not buy on this FedPol web page:
        https://www.australianpolice.com.au/prohibited-weapons/
Apart from the Citizen knife, other knives I saw on BPS knives look OK, but I probably didn't see the lot and am far from expert.

…and if you do manage to sneak something past Border force: https://www.armstronglegal.com.au/criminal-law/nsw/offences/…

        • Sorry I was probably a bit general in my statement lol 100% correct, there are a ton that aren't allowed. I didn't go to far down the rabbit hole personally… I'm no knife aficionado, just curious when I saw somewhere in Ukraine producing them

          • @Denaz: I figured you may know but others may not. Never good to lose things to Border. They x-ray parcels from overseas. Anyone would be lucky to sneak weapons past in the mail.

  • Guess its US Dollars as well

    Estimated delivery time:

    USA – 3-4 weeks
    Canada – 4-6 weeks
    Europe – 3-4 weeks
    Asia – 3-4 weeks
    Australia – 2-3 months

    • Hi, yes its prices are in US$. I used my 28degrees card which gave me the same rate as xe.com and even when adjusted I think it was $82 (with code would be less I guess) for a B! SSFH delivered to the door, cheaper than I could find it imported into Australia by another company.

They do state long deliver times so I bought prepared to wait months on Feb 12th, it shipped on Feb 17th, and arrived on 3rd March, so better than I expected. No guarantee it will always be that fast but I think their lead time to Aus is nowhere near that long.

  • These guys also sell through Amazon. You pay about the same as through their website, but with next day delivery.

    eg: https://www.amazon.com.au/BPS-Knives-HK6-Stainless-Scandinav…

    • This is true, but with a reduced range of knives and accesories (I could only get the stainless with fire steel sheath via bps direct). I purchased a b1 carbon there and it arrived rusted, so went direct and it was fine. Mine may well have been an outlier so your experience may differ.

  • Mine arrived today. Seems like a reasonable knife. Cuts paper fine out of the box haha. The sheath seems pretty good quality. Although one of the handle securing screws is definitely noticeably burred and needs a bit of sanding down otherwise it could cause a problem in the hand when using for a period of time.

But then after getting it I realised I don't actually really need a fixed blade knife like this and WTF was I thinking buying it. I guess I've been watching too many American based videos over the years. A cheap okay 3 inch folder like a Ganzo is more than enough for something I'd do. Oh well. Whatever, I guess I just need to get outdoors more.
