  • How much is just one 20cm or 15-17cm?

    • Global G2 (the standard chefs knife - a different chefs knife from this kit) has been around $80 in the past on sale, from memory.

(Whether these two extra knives are worth the extra is up to you, and whether you would use them.)

      • Oic. Might wait for a single deal. Don't think I need the smaller ones. I been using kiwi knives for years. Also would like to give Ikea ones ago

        • I made some comments about Ikea knives in the following deal, which may be useful to you:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/657072

Global use a similar type of steel (although quality and treatment not necessarily the same).

"CROMOVA 18 - Yoshikin proprietary stainless steel for their brand Global knives. Cr indicates Chrome in the alloy, Mo is for Molybdenum and Va is for Vanadium. Exact chemical composition was unknown, except for 18% of alloying content in it. Eventually, several credible sources provided information that Cromova 18 was a rebrand for Aichi AUS-6M steel. Similar compared to X50CrMoV15 types of steel. Highly stain resistant with pretty good edge holding ability. There's a competing theory, where Cromova 18 is supposedly much better Aichi AUS-118 steel, but it is unlikely that high end alloy would be so obscured."

      • The included fluted 20cm cooks worth a little more than $80 IMO, it's ~$115 after cashback rewards…

        • I'd say that's debatable. But if you want a fluted knife, then sure!

(And just to emphasise, I never said this is not a good deal, just simply that whether it's worth it over a single knife depends on whether you will use the other knives - or prefer the fluted chef knife, I could have added for completeness). :)

        • +1

Personally wouldnt spend more than $80 on a Global knife, fluted or otherwise.
