  • Goddamn it, just bought the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC for $150 in the refurb deal.

    • Unless you need Aptx Low Latency for gaming, I actually find the 4.50 to be superior to the Backbeat Pro 2. This is provided that your ears fit comfortably in the 4.50s though.

      • I find the Sennheiser elongated ear pads to suit me very nicely.

I have some Bluedio Victory headphones as well from the last deal on them, nice sound, but after about 30-60 minutes my ears are hurting where the pad is sitting/pushing them. They have round ear pads.

    • what refrub deal is that?

Full on testing if anyone is interested.

Currently own backbeat fit, backbeat 505, and backbeat pro 2 se (just bought, used with 3 months warranty and almost new for $135, otherwise I'd feel sore about this deal!). Pro 2's sound the dogs danglies, noise cancelling mid tier (more like h.ear on 2 than QC35/1000xm2) but still good. Very very slight pressure with NC. Open mic is weird but useful when listening to music and needing to hear kids too!. Battery life phenomenal on all 3, connects easily, just looks a bit more cumbersome than the Bose or Sony, but better value if your ears fit in them (smaller than the h.ear on 2 inside)

  • Welcome Taz. Nice deal to kick off with!

    • Thanks heaps hope to find more

  • Question. It doesn't state English in the alerts has anyone got information please

Plantronics have a great warranty. When my Backbeat Go 2s stopped working all I did was fill in an online form and received a new pair within days. Didn't even ask for old ones back..

    • Interesting… :)

    • Same! Great support!

Only problem is the headband is poor quality so degraded with use. They let me keep my old pair though so I have a new pair in the box still waiting to be opened. I’ll likely gift them and keep the ones with the stained headband as it’s not too bad. I was only contacting support to see if they could tell me how to clean and fix the small tears.

    • I'm not sure how you guys have had such great success. I've got a fault with mine that's I've never pursued as I don't want to be without any headphones but after seeing this, I decided to give it a go. I registered an account, booked it in online and they want me to post it back to them at my expense (it just generates a generic non postage paid shipping label with the claim details on it). I'll just take it back to Officeworks instead.

For people who own this, can I confirm that it is NOT POSSIBLE to have high quality duplex audio?

Basically this, which I am led to believe is a fundamental limitation of bluetooth technology but I continue to search for the holy grail.

    https://superuser.com/questions/930251/possible-to-use-bluet…
    https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/duplex-high-quality-audi…
    https://community.bose.com/t5/Headphones-Archive/PC-Gaming-w…

    • either you can get high-quality (stereo, CD-quality) audio playback to the speakers, but with the microphone disabled; or, you can get extremely low-quality, telephone-grade audio in both directions, playback and capture.

You don't get CD quality audio with Bluetooth unless it has propietary standards added such as aptx HD.

      • +3

I'm not expecting CD quality, but I'm not desiring the scratchy mono quality horse crap that comes when I activate my microphone on my e.g. SH8850NC either

  • How are they with Apple iPad/iphone switching between the 2?

    • I don't know about apple products, because I don't own any. I can confirm that I can connect them to my android phone and my dell laptop at once, when a call comes in it will pause the media on the PC and go to the phone. BUT, I have found that sometimes the bluetooth connection gets screwy when I do this. The BT card in the dell is pretty crap - so it could be that causing it.

      • +1

same here. when connected to both, switches nicely between the two, but sometimes screws up in process. solved by turning headset off and on again. no issues connected to just phone.

    • Mine connects to both at the same time. Which ever is playing music/videos or receiving a call will take over, when the call ends the music connects and resumes
I love how they pause Spotify when you take them off and continue when you put them on again
They are aptx HD Low latency but apple products aren’t - so there is a slight delay when watching videos on my iPhone - set the audio delay to -0.3s.

  • Good buy if you need one.

  • Damn, spent too long thinking about it and should have just bought, out of stock now. Would have been a nice upgrade from my Astro A38s.

I have one, and I am very happy with it. got it a year ago for $170 though on eBay.

April 2017, $168.95 to be precise

    • well means this price isnt good. a year and increase?

      • It was posted from New Zealand though (futuregear). maybe them kiwis didn't know how to price jack back then.

    • Yeah seems unusual this is considered a hot price even a year on. In september 2017, i got officeworks to price beat mighty ape and got it for $188.10.

    • Not an issue as that's a completely different model.

  • Sorry. We don't have enough 'Plantronic BlackBeat PRO 2 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones (128786)' in stock to fulfill your order

  • How much better is the QC35? ultra noob so honest question

    • +1

from a NC point of view, miles better. From a music point of view (highly subjective) QC35 are not as good, sony are better but I preferred bass tailoring on the Plantronics. Plus, the bose are lighter smaller and more understated. BUT they feel plastic to me. VERY comfy though, and the industry standard for a good reason.

TLDR: If you're buying to fly/commute, buy QC35. For TV/Gaming/Music, buy these and save a couple hundred $

      • Thanks for that! I might have to get one of these then… my first dip into these headphones and I already own a plantronics I use to game on my PC and it's been trouble free for 3+ years.

Just really want something to listen to music and because I work in construction, noise cancelling does come handy!

Was unsuccessful in doing a OW price-beat :(

  • Got them for $171 at OW price match. Thanks Taza!

I called directly to local store. They had no problem with price matching. Picked up the headphones just then.

I was literally in JB HIFI at lunch time checking these out, comparing with sennheiser hd 4.5. I liked these better, and thought to myself i will wait till they are on sale. When I got back I go to Ozbargain for historic prices and there it is. This must be fate. Lucky i jumped straight away and got it from the telstra site at 3:54pm. Thanks OP.

    • WOW. Just got mine delivered. Ordered Yesterday at 3:50pm delivered today at 8:45 am. Nice!

  • Will Ow price match this?

    • I doubt it if it is sold out.

  • Hey people i got mine from JB HIFI as they price matched and i didnt have to wait for postage.

Hope it helps some people out :)

  • got one from OW Mosman, there is one more and may price match without question as they were very convinced with the name Telstra, was waiting for new sony one but got this, maybe will get that as well. by the time I reached Warringah Mall, it was sold out! Thanks op.

  • Have her these for over a year. Great headphones for the sale price ( i paid 180 from memory).

  • No worries everyone. Unfortunately i dont get to use them til 13th of sept for my bday…. wife said i had to wait lol

  • +1

So annoyed. Been waiting for these to come on sale for ages, checking OB every day and now they are sold out :(

  • these vs nuraphones?

  • only issue with these are the ear pads… I have the original and these both lasted 1yr of used before pads glue came undone… posted back and got new pairs of each under warranty. Now my originals are coming apart again but out of luck for warranty now as past 2yrs.

    • My ears hurt after 2 hours of using the headphone, padding is not thick enough hence my ears are pressing against the speaker (what ever you all it), also have the nice cancelling headphone from Taotronics, much more conportable but NC is lacking and didn’t have auto pause feature when taking off the headphone. Any one have the same problem?

  • Telstra have dropped these to $120 but now out of stock again
