HD 598SR is exclusively available from Amazon or directly from Sennheiser’s Online Shop and Flagship Stores.

  • Love the people who use open back headphones on public transport … thankfully my noise cancelling ones work well :)

    Good price though.

    • Yeah that would be annoying. Atleast my new Sony MDR-1A headphone from Amazon France is a closed back.

      • What other cans do you have? It would be interesting to compare the Sony MDR-1A?

        • Nothing much. Just a Marley TTR Destiny over-ear and a JBL Everest Elite 300 on-ear.

        • @hollykryten: How would you rank the 3?

        • @congngo:

Sony MDR-1A would definitely be on the top, but i will know for sure when it actually arrives.

          It would probably go

          1) Sony MDR-1A
          2) Marley TTR Destiny
          3) JBL Everest Elite 300 (because it's an on-ear, the other 2 are over-ear, but although it's more portable).

    • Who uses open-back phones on public transport? And if you've encountered people who do, why don't you just tell them to turn it off?

      • The sound leakage will easily be drowned out by the noise of other people. Though I agree it's a bad idea, but it's bad for the wearer not other people.

  • how does this compare to Philips Fidelio X2 Hi-Res headphones £122.99 Posted ($199.34 AUD Delivered) from Amazon UK?

hey i own both those heaphones as well as the m50x. tbh there isnt the biggest difference between the x2 and hd598's sound. id say the x2 sounds a bit brighter and has a bit more bass to my casual ears - but there wasnt a huge difference. if anything the hd598 sounds a bit flatter/neutral, however vocals are nicer on the hd598. i really enjoy the x2's for gaming though.. they sound more immersive than the sennheisers and emphasise particular bassy sounds from gunshots etc..

the hd598 also weighs less making it more comfy, but so too is the x2. the x2 build quality is top notch, real nice materials and finish (metal) compared with the bendable plastic for the 598

is it worth the extra $70? IMO there isnt a big enough difference. however if you like a bit more bass and you game more than you listen to music then its up to you if you want to spend more

    These are great headphones!

  • Is this the same as SE?

I'll get one if it hasn't gone up in price by tomorrow. I'm an idiot when it comes to collecting headphones and I wouldn't mind it if fate made the decision for me.

    • Did you get one? Ends in 40 minutes 😀

      • Nope. I guess it saved me $130.

How did you know the exact end time?

I'm both disappointed and happy at the same time. I wanted one, but it's probably no better than the ones I already have (all of which cost more).

That said, if this price is available again and it lasts more than a day before it goes back up, I'll buy it next time.

It also sucks that Sennheiser doesn't provide a carrying case for their gear like Beyer and others do. Even a cheap pouch is better than nothing.

        • I just clicked on the link on the mobile site and there was a message on the page that said deal of the day and a count down timer.

I totally agree with you on the carry case. I couldn't believe my 598c didn't come with even a cheap case.
