        • @Droz:

          I hate waiting

I've come to learn that when ordering popular items like this from China, there's a possibility that delays will happen. So when a good deal like this pops up, I keep that in mind to avoid being too disappointed when it doesn't arrive on time.

Basically, buying from China = waiting.

        • @Droz:

I haven't received that email (yet?).

Clear mentioned that geekbuying has received stock of 700 Redmi phones. After threatening to initiate a PayPal dispute, I also finally received a response from them that they will ship my phone this week. I pushed them to give me a actual deadline day. They couldn't but said that they 'expected' it to ship by Thursday.

          I guess we'll see what happens…

        • @eug:

Not entirely true. Other reputable sellers don't lie about their ability to ship on time. If they know demand for a product has become high and/or their on-hand stock is depleted they will change their shipping time to something like "expected shipping in 6-9 business days" or "expected restock "30 July" etc.

This sets customer expectation correctly at possibly the expense of a few sales. Slightly dodgier vendors, will not do this in order to maintain attractiveness of the deal and then just BS their way through the questioning when they can't ship on time and hope customers don't pull out their orders.

I know what type of business I'd reorder from…

        • @yes8s:

          Not entirely true.

Sure. I never said every single overseas seller will never ship on time. All I'm saying is that if there's a good deal for a popular item from China, I will expect delays because it isn't unheard of. If it arrives on time then great, if it gets delayed, I was prepared for it.

If you want something cheap, you should be prepared for possible delays.
If you want to avoid possible delays, don't buy the item from the cheapest store in the world.

It's not a perfect world. I've ordered things locally and the store has stuffed up too. And that's with full-priced items from a local store run with local staff on local salaries. Even large companies like Officeworks and Masters have poor inventory systems which have shown incorrect stock levels.

        • @eug: I understand that delays do happen, and I've made peace with it now, but I suppose it was the here's-some-stock-now-it's-gone-and-we-won't-tell-you-what's-happening that was pretty frustrating.

All that's left is for the item to arrive, in one piece and working. And, if it's not working, I hope it'll be easy enough to remedy.

The price was great, so I'll leave it at that.

        • @yes8s:

Clear mentioned that geekbuying has received stock of 700 Redmi phones

Was that in a private message, or somewhere else here?

Something that I've learned about OzBargain is that it's quite difficult to follow along if you've messaged multiple threads. Sometimes people respond to the wrong message, and the conversation gets lost quite easily. Still, it's been fun.

        • @Droz: I'm waiting on a more accurate response from GB. As far as I know the Mi Max is definitely in stock and being shipped out. Orders of Redmi Note 3 are being fulfilled and more stock will be in by the end of the week.

        • @Clear:

          Cool, thanks.

          @Droz:

we just need to get them from the factory again .
it is estimated that it will be in stock next week.Would you mind waiting for it ?
please don't worry ,once it is in stock , we will ship it out ASAP.

KIND NOTICE : Please send or reply email under the same topic( the first topic we talk) or else we may not solve the problem for you in time.

…I was starting to feel left out that I didn't get this message :-).

I wonder which is truer - the ship this week info or ship next week info?

        • @yes8s: That email from Janice is more true.

        • @Clear:

          Really…?

Did they really get more than 700 orders for this phone within the last couple of weeks? If not where have those 700 redmi phones been allocated? New orders? Really old orders?

What the hell is going on?

Do they have stock of this or not?

If it's still next week I'm initiating a paypal dispute/refund immediately. Unacceptable!

I've supplied my order# to you Clear, via PM. Can you not do anything to expedite this? I've seen on other posts you mention to users you can help sort out such issues for us.

        • @yes8s:

I'm waiting on a more accurate response from GB.

This is what I meant before - currently I'm getting the same info as you are. I suppose the option is to wait for next week or request a cancellation.

        • @Clear:

What is your affiliation with them?

        • @yes8s: I negotiate and post deals for them. I try to help out with customer issues when I can.

        • @Clear:

Ok, thanks. So you don't actually work for them. I'll direct my frustration elsewhere :-)

        • @yes8s: Yeah. Having direct contact with their employees certainly helps, but not when it's a stock issue.

        • @yes8s: Look at my email i received from them below. I dont think they are receiving anything at all.

        • @Geez:

        • @Droz:

I'm glad yours is finally on its way to you.

I ended up purchasing from Goldway/Aliexpress. Ended up cheaper than useless geekbuying (even after $15 DHL shipping charge) due to 7.25% cashback.

Ordered Wednesday, shipped Friday, arrival expected tomorrow. Wish I'd ordered here first. Would've probably already had the phone for a week or two.

Geekbuying "Ships in 2-7days" My a$$… So dodgy…

        • @yes8s:

Wow, that was fast - will definitely consider in the future.

Also, just to be clear - there was cashback with GeekBuying!

  • anyone got dispatched notice for the mi max?

    • +1

Just got an email at 5:03pm that my mi max has been shipped. I guess that really just means the paperwork has been submitted but it looks promising.

    • +1

Yes. I've got a DHL tracking number now. Order got picked up on Sunday from HK, now in Singapore being processed. I got the shipping email Saturday arvo.

      • +1

Mine is in Melbourne this morning. Looking forward to receiving the phone.

        • that was quick, they send me email asking postcode and city, I put Sydney and also my suburb and they got confused……

        • @tif1607: And delivered, great work in the stormy weather.

        • +1

@wombat_58: I am envious of your status as the owner of a new phone from GeekBuying

        • @Droz: I was sceptical and still not happy with the way the sale was conducted but in the end I have the phone and DHL delivery was super fast.

        • @wombat_58: lucky you, they update my postcode and suburb but nothing happening still….

        • @tif1607:
Nothing for me either….. have ordered 2….. told them if I don't hear by Friday this week (14 days), I will put in a paypal dispute

        • Status update: arrived in Darwin clearing customs. I hope I'll get it by the end of today.

Thought it might have been diverted to Sydney to clear customs.

        • +1

@andy19363: what a waste of time….they most likely only order from factory while receiving our orders, never would I use them again….

        • @tif1607: typing from my new mi max, got delivered yesterday.. DHL was fast.

        • @bestbuddy: lucky you mate.

        • Mine cleared customs in Darwin today. Arrived at lunch time.

    • mine finally dispatched, I think they are getting sick of me harassing them now……

  • Mine arrived yesterday. DHL is fast! The shipment was first scanned in HK at 12.41am Sunday and delivered 3pm Monday.

  • Dear sir,

    Thanks for your email.

We are sorry for the long delay.

Would you mind changing to other products that you want?

You can tell me the item code, then we can check it for you whether it's in stock or not.

    We apologize for the inconvenience.

Looking forward for your earlier reply.

    Have a nice day.

    Debbie

This is what I received after asking for a refund the third time. Time for A credit card dispute I guess.

  • Have now initiated a refund as I'm sick of their bullcrap. Based on their communication I suspect it will be several weeks before they have stock available to ship but even they don't know for certain.

They're dishonest about their stock levels and will try desperately to stall any action you may try to take via lies.

Never again! Save yourselves the trouble and just stay away.

    • Did you order note 3?

      • +1

        Ordered the Note 3 Pro.

Ended up refunding the order from geekbuying and getting it from Goldway/Aliexpress instead. Much better and more honest company to deal with than geekbuying.

  • Redmi Note 3 Pro has arrived from GeekBuying.

    Ordered on 13/7/16.
    Sent on 28/7/16
    Arrived via DHL on 1/8/16
