  • AUD$26.65 is the cheapest I've seen for the yeelight.

  • +1

Stock only 99 each for each of the phones

    • Yeah, I was interested in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro since my first gen Moto G is slowly dying, but it's out of stock. The Mi Max looks good specs wise, but it's huge.

      • I just bought the Redmi Note 3 Pro (3GB RAM / 32GB Storage) and it was in-stock, apparently - 19 left when I tried, according to their web page… I imagine the stock is constantly fluctuating. ~ $166 USD

        • I should have waited. On the same day(10/Jul) I bought a combo(with with Soft Case + Tempered Glass) for ~US$180.

          Still hasn't shipped though :(

        • @PeteShag: Neither has mine, though they have made contact to say I they can't use TNT from Hong Kong - only DHL will do it.

So, with the 2 - 7 day "processing" time, that leaves me until Wednesday (or is that Friday, if it's 7 "business days?) before they (hopefully) ship.

Did you also buy from GeekBuying?

        • @Droz:

Yeah, same situation, they let me know they can't ship via TNT so I said they could go ahead and ship via DHL. Hopefully they send it out soon.

        • @PeteShag: Yay, now I have someone to share my angst with!

        • @Droz: I just got an email with my DHL tracking number, I hope you get an update soon!

        • @PeteShag: Hey thanks, but nothing yet, unfortunately.
          Hopefully tomorrow is the day…

  • mmm Mi Max so tempted… but im scared its too big

anyone own one and have some real life experiences?

    • i havent owned mi max but owned similar sized phones and while its great when its in use, youre discouraged from wearing number of bottoms with small pockets, especially if youre on the move alot. Bending down etc

also going out need to be alot more careful so it doesnt slip out of pocket sitting down

its alot more fitting for women with handbags

but if all you traverse is a 9-5 job and home it should be fine mostly.

    • +1

I used to have an Xperia Z Ultra (6.4"), which is ~5mm wider than the Mi max. If you have slightly above average sized hands, you'd probably be fine with it. Small hands however…nope. Very nice having the extra screen estate though.

      • me too, Z Ultra is a great phone except for the invisible finger thingy when there's a drop of water on the screen. I wouldnt mind the big screen, a big plus for web browsing and watching videos. bigger sceens however will stretch the screen ppi and the battery life though.

        • +1

This thing has a near on 5000mah battery!!

        • +2

The invisible finger thing aka phantom input wrecks the device just to be clear.

The reason is it becomes a time bomb waiting to ruin your life. Since it can just do anytihng right in front of you (or completely without your knowledge) with no input at all it hangs over your head: when it it going to send dick pics to mother all by itself, when is it going to send that joke bomb threat SMS to the police etc.

It ruins the device. This is aside from the reguarly doing less serious thing like screwing up your games and preventing you doing things making you repeat them etc.

        • Everyone here at Ozbargain are concerned about you, @Diji1:. Those examples both amuse and concern us at the same time. =)

    • currently own a samsung s6 (5") too small for clash of clans lol

when it went under warranty repair i had a samsung note 4(5.7") for a week and i loved it

mi max is a massive jump…

    • Never enough of big screen size, just try then after 3 months you will want to get bigger screen. It's a bless for watching movies and browsing.

    • +3

Sony Z Ultra was my point of "too big" and that's 6.4, slightly smaller.

For the first time ever I couldn't fit the device into all of my clothes pockets and it's a two handed device unless you get good at one hand juggling. I got pretty good at it but you can see where this might lead :D

I think 6" is about perfect.

  • anyone bought the Xiaomi car dashcam before? Is it worth to buy?

    • bought dash cam last week, love it. got 64g evo+ inside. can flash from chinese language to English, look on dashcam talk to do it

      • Did you buy from Geekbuying or another site?

        • bought from everbuying for $52 USD, got coupons for signing up, change avatar, verify email etc

  • questions about the mi4c, will it work on optus network? easy to flash? unlock? what ROM would would be best to install?

  • Bought the Mi Max, thanks OP. Time to switch from my Nokia 1320 Windows Phone.

  • Does anyone have any experience with this seller? How likely is it to get a phone that isn't a factory second/used sold as new and what happens if it comes to a warranty claim - have heard a lot of problems with sellers that are located in Asia?

    • No chance that you'll get something as a factory second/used from GB.

As for warranty- I can't comment as I haven't dealt with them, but they say that all electronics are covered by a 1 year warranty…

Just make sure you pay with PayPal for extra security, and activate refunded returns in the case that you do have to ship it back.

      • Cool. Appreciate your comment / experience.

      • They did sent me a factory second xiaomi Max the other day. I complained it on their site and eventually they partially refunded me for the used phone. I bought three phones from them the first 2 were great no issue. Only the last one I had to fight for it but I am happy with partial refund I got and I get to keep the phone.

        • +1

Damn…never heard of that before :/. What indicated that it was a second? I'm thinking of buying one but a bit hesitant now.

        • @donnot:

There were a few cosmetic scratch on the corner and back of the phone. No original plastic protector came with the phone.
I took photos to show them and they finally agreed to refund me USD 50 for the phone and I keep the phone.
Nothing wrong with the phone just some cosmetic stuffs. My first two phones were brand new including a Mi Max for a friend.

    • Horror story, buyers beware

  • FYI. MI Max can do proper 4G + 3G on dual sim

    • +1

So if we are on call with one some and someone call the other number we can just press button and talk to the other? Can we get Internet only on any Sim card or Internet only on 3g?

    • Do you have a MI Max or can anyone confirm this? Or a review that confirms this?
So far I have only confirmed that a Mi5 has dual 4g+3g it is a little too much.

  • +1

I bought the Mi Max and now all fingers crossed that it will arrive in good order, it works, and I don't have any probs with it. Might cross my toes too. :)

    • +1

Neat, care to share some experience with it? Im really keen to get one but mix review about the build quality and network bands putting me on hold

    • yes please review, this might be my next phone next year hopefully price down again. really want something powerful with 6". current 5.5" feels too small

    • Have you paid $316.05 with normal shipping, my check out did show me that, not around $308, cheers

  • Oh no! I didn't see arctan post! Oh well too late now! How did you know it was a second arctan??

  • Thanks OP. Bought a Yeelight and a router to play with. Also TNT shipping was free and looks like other shipping methods are discounted also.

Wow, the Xiaomi Mi5 Pro is amazingly EXPENSIVE. Anyone willing to spend A$700+ to test it?

  • This is a good store because it has SSL installed. Will add this site to my bookmark.

  • Does the Mi Max have finger print sensor? Is touch ID same as finger print sensor? Does it work with Optus 4G?

    • Yes, Yes, Not very well. It will probably work OK in metro areas. I have an m2 note that has the same bands and it rarely works on 4G (Canberra). Still pretty fast on HSPA+ though.

  • What is the average transit time to Sydney, 1-2 weeks?

    • Free shipping is 3-4 weeks on average and can be up to 30 business days. Aussie customs and Auspost can be slow. TNT is <week.

      • Shipping Methods Shipping Cost Tracking number

DHL (3-5 Business Days) USD 7.02 YES
TNT (3-5 Business Days) USD 41.06 YES

How come TNT cost 6x more than DHL? The delivery time frame is identical.

        • Probably a glitch in the system. What is the product?

      • Clear can you tell us long is the wait for mi Max.?
Like some others i ordered last week and not heard anything yet.

Those who want 128GB storage, 4GB RAM version can get it now in Gold for around USD$400 delivered: http://www.xiaomidevice.com/xiaomi-mi-max-4gb-128gb-android-…

    • you can nearly buy 2 of the 3gb version, the 128gb came on sale in China official site today at 12am Sydney time for 1999 RMB ~just under 300 USD.

My opinion about the new Xiaomi Mi Max phone is pretty good for A$300.

    Youtude review

  • will Mi Max be working with Telstra 4G band, thanks.
check out: AU$316.05, can you please confirm with me who already bought, cheers

    • 4G for Telstra will work on Band3-1800MHz, Band7-2600MHz.

Currently $304.48 AU based on Exchange rate. To get close to that price use a card with no currency conversion fees. Then you'll need to setup Paypal to use the card's exchange rate.

Instructions on how to change your PayPal billing currency:
Login to PayPal, click settings, click payments, click pre-approved payments, click select available funding sources, next to the credit card you want to pay with click 'conversion options', then click 'Bill me in the currency listed on the seller's invoice.'

      • thanks OP, appreciate your help,

  • Paid A$325.41 for phone, TNT and insurance. Will review and report back when I receive it and try it out. Wish me luck it will come all good.

  • Managed to get the gold one for 230.63USD with TNT, the coupon of 5% (VNWJBBZC) site wide still apply, OP you can add so everyone can use this, however, the 5% only works for gold, the silver one get like 1% only, anyway good luck

  • +1

Yah, bought one. Couldn't resist at the price. I've been a Samsung Note guy forever, but recently switched to the HTC 10 and missing the larger screen. So thought I'd give this a go and at the price.. why not.

Do I need to wait for the "Shopping Carnival" to be over (2 days left?) before whatever I ordered is processed and sent out? I notice I've already been charged, "Order Status: Payment Confirmed(Processing)"

Is this a "Flash Sale"? Is that how "Flash Sales" work?

    Not freaking out, just curious.

    • I believe a flash sale is just a standard sale with a time limit. Sometimes there is also limited quantities associated with the sale.

Your order will be shipped out when they get the item(s) in. Usually a few days to a week depending on seller and item. I don't believe the 'flash sale' aspect has anything to do with when they send out the order other than having to cope with extra depand due to sale.

      • Yep. Sale for a limited time with limited pcs.

        • Ok, thanks.

I received 2 days ago an email with the following content:

We are sorry to inform you that the TNT couldn't ship from HK warehouse which you ordered from .
Please be at ease, for this case, we will ship it by DHL which usually takes 3-5 business days to you .
By the way, please pay attention to your local custom policy , if any tax produced , you should assume it all by yourself.
We apologize for the inconvenience .
          Have a nice day!
          Sincerely
          Ailee

My order status hasn't changed from "payment confirmed - processing", and shipping still says "TNT".

Is this normal? Should I just wait it out?

Can't believe how needy I am

        • +1

@Droz: Yep that's normal. You'll get a dispatch email with the DHL tracking number soon.

        • +1

          @Clear:

Hey thanks! Have some internet points +1

        • @Droz:

I also got this email but no postage yet.

          Has yours been posted yet?
How long after TNT->DHL email did they post it or send you dispatch email?

        • @yes8s: Nah, hasn't been sent out yet. Still "Processing".
Says that 2 - 7 days is the normal window for processing, and I ordered last Wednesday, the 13th of July. However, I'm not sure if weekends count as these processing days too.

        • @Clear: No one likes to be left in the dark here. You'd better let everyone know what's going on with shipping orders.

        • @coolbbb888: I sent a message to Geekbuying's staff earlier today. I'll let you know when I know.

        • +1

@Droz: Geekbuying said later today or tomorrow stock will be arriving.

        • @Clear: Hopefully that happens. My timeline:

11/7 8.57am - Ordered a Mi Max from geekbuying, shipped via TNT.
11/7 7.18pm - Received an email saying "Your order# has been sent out" along with a China post tracking number
          11/7 8.17pm - Sorry TNT can't ship, we'll ship via DHL, it'll take 3-5 business days
14/7 - No updates so I email them asking for the DHL tracking number
14/7 - They reply saying it's out of stock and it should be back within next week.
19/7 - They send another email saying the item is "too popular to meet all the demands" and it'll be in stock in another week.

        • @eug: UPDATE 21/7 : I ordered mi Max and received email today:

          Dear friend
SO sorry let you wait it so long
I confirm from factory, and got information that it is estimated that it will be in stock within a week
Would you wait for it ,or change other items?
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
          Best regards,

  • I just placed an order for this version from geek buying:

    www.geekbuying.com/item/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3-Pro-5-5-Inch-FHD…

As I understand it, this is the Chinese version of the phone with (vendor?) multi-language + Google Play ROM. I believe this ROM still has Chinese apps and bloatware so I will wan't to update it.

Will I be able to flash the Official Gloabl ROM?

Will it then be able to receive OTA update?

Will I need to unlock the bootloader via xiaomi to do this?

From a software perspective, will it then be the same as the official international version of the phone?

Please help as theres tons of info out there but it starts to get confusing due to all the variants and vendor versions etc.

  • +1

Just an fyi for anyone looking at buying from Geekbuying, I ordered a Mi Max on July 10. They then emailed me to say that TNT transport was not available from HK even though it was an option at check out but they would ship DHL instead at no extra cost. Then I had heard nothing until July 18 when they said there was no stock of the phone and would be restocked this week. I then received another email saying that stock would not be received for a week. So we will be 2 and a half weeks before the item may be shipped. I have no confidence that they will ship at this time.

Interesting to note they charged my credit card immediately even though they acknowledge they have no stock!

    Likely never again.

    • +1

I'm suspecting (and concerned) this is also the case with the redmi. Most other reputable online China retailers I use are not expecting stock of this phone for another 1-2 weeks.

Considering cancelling this order and ordering elsewhere that sell actual stock on hand rather than take orders and then order from manufacturer.

      • I may do the same mate. I dont recall seeing that this promotion was a pre sale. Really leaves a sour taste.

      • I ordered my Redmi Note 3 Pro from GeekBuying last Wednesday, which puts me on 7 days now, which is in the processing time window.

I also received the email about being switched to DHL. My payment too was confirmed immediately.

When I purchased, there was a little indicator saying that there were 16 pieces remaining (page linked to at the top now says that the phone has been "Sold Out")

The FAQ on the GeekBuying site says that orders are normally processed in 2 - 7 days, but if they have stock items are shipped in 24-48 hours. It seems now that the representation of remaining stock was not correct.

I know that someone here purchased a Redmi Note 3 Pro (in a "combo" deal with a screen protector + case) on the 10th, and received the email that they shipped on the 18th, which makes it 8 days from order to shipment. I suppose I could be satisfied with that scenario.

There is still the hope that this will all pan out in the next 24 hours, but yes, if there was no stock when they represented that there was… That's dishonest, and I would have purchased from somewhere where there was stock. Not only that, but the Redmi Note 4 is allegedly being announced on the 27th, so if that phone is released (The "Pro" variant with the Snapdragon processor might not be released straight away, however) before the Redmi Note 3 Pro is even sent, then that would definitely compound my annoyance.

I have purchased from GeekBuying in the past, and indeed, I purchased items after I purchased the phone that have been shipped already - so, if they have the stock, they obviously ship.

The price for the phone was truly excellent, but I am getting the feeling that I have been played in so far as whether I could actually get the phone when I thought I could.

Time will tell, of course, but I fear, like @wombat_58 that this was really a pre-sale. I'm prepared to eat my words, but not feeling great at this stage.

    • Check to see if the DHL shipping was cheaper, you might be due a refund. My shipping cost is $12.80USD and I opted in for insurance. Total cost $244.78USD

I'm in the same boat, charged straight away and no notification of no stock or any delays. Don't think I'll be buying anything from Geekbuying in the future.

  • I've also be told no stock of the Mi Max and am waiting… zzz

  • join the club, we are all in the same boat mate…!!! .. Shocking how they screwed up so many orders. or may be too smart.

  • +1

More bad news fellas, they still haven't worked out when their stock will arrive. I got an email this morning.

    Dear friend
SO sorry let you wait it so long
I confirm from factory, and got information that it is estimated that it will be in stock within a week
Would you wait for it ,or change other items?
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
    Best regards,
    Janice

    • That's disappointing.

I guess the question is - does anywhere else even have stock?

This hasn't gone as smoothly as I would've liked.

Also - you're waiting on the Max from memory, correct? I'm just waiting for the Note Pro. I guess I'll see what my email response is…

    • Redmi Note 3 Pro:

and i am sorry to tell you that the item you ordered it out of stock
it will be in stock next week
so could you please wait for more days?
sorry for the inconvenience to you
      Best regards
      Tina

      • Damn it! I had a feeling this would happen. Haven't got that delayed shipping email myself but I now expect I'll get it soon.

  • +1

yes, i'm waiting for max. Checked with another supplier on Aliexpress, they seem to have stock and ready to ship but who know the truth.

    Same, grrrrr

” is too popular to meet all the demands ,
we just need to get them from the factory again .
it is estimated that it will be in stock a week.Would you mind waiting for it ?

  • Same here..

Same email sent to me, which has been sent to everyone else. Never geekbuying again. total rip off. Are they easy to deal for refunds?

    • +3

The problem is that no one else has stock, and I think other vendors often pull similar tactics. I've no doubt that I'll receive the phone, just not happy about the misrepresentation of stock, and being kept in the dark about it.

      definitely minus points there.

  • Dear sir,
    Thanks for your order .
We are sorry to inform you that the item XIAOMI Redmi 3 Pro is extremely popular, we just need to get them from the factory.
We can't confirm the available time,
would you mind changing to the golden color"364765 "(207814), there are only several ones left in our warehouse.
We would appreciate your early reply. We apologize for the inconvenience.
If you have any question, please feel free to contact us.
Anyway we will try our best to help you.
    Best regards,

email received this morning when i asked for refund.

    • Hmmm, I got another email, this time from [email protected] instead of the presale support address.

Content slightly different to yours, as they didn't ask me to change - are they saying they have the gold in stock, and they're sending that out to you because you asked for a refund?

anyway, here's the second email telling me there's no stock:

      Dear Sir or Madam
This is the customer service from Geekbuying, thanks for your order .
We are sorry to tell you that we just got the information from factory ,
the item you ordered “Smartphone 207813 ” is too popular to meet all the demands ,
we just need to get them from the factory again .
it is estimated that it will be in stock a week.Would you mind waiting for it ?
please don't worry ,once it is in stock , we will ship it out ASAP.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
      Best regards,
      Janice
KIND NOTICE : Please send or reply email under the same topic( the first topic we talk) or else we may not solve the problem for you in time.

      Redmi Note 3 Pro

      • I actually said i'll shame them on ozbargain for charging me and not sending the goods. Then they sent me this email. After that i asked for a refund. I'm sceptical about the gold one because it could be ones which people have returned due to issues. Cant trust these guys anymore. They havent replied to my refund request yet inspite of me replying to their email within one minute of receiving it.

        • What are you going to do instead?

I told them I'd wait, but I have been looking around at other stores.

Ali Express stores Top-One and Goldway seem like they both have stock, but the prices aren't as attractive. $265 from Goldway, $274 from Top-One (With DHL Shipping).

My favourite "Never screwed me before" store Banggood.com has them, but they're crazy expensive at the moment - indeed, it seems that their price mechanism is busted, because when you select a colour, the price goes up to $333 (and doesn't drop to the original)

ibuygou.com is at $279, but that's regular shipping I think. Not sure about their stock levels.

Looks like something crazy happened in the last week with this phone in particular, and so I'm quite doubtful that stock will actually come in soon. And they charged me 10 days ago now…

        • @Droz:

I would of bought it from BG too if they had had stock. Even if it would of worked out a little more expensive. But I went for GB because they had a really good price, cheap express shipping and APPEARED to have stock.

I'm going to see what happens - If they don't ship early next week I'm going to just go for a refund straight via paypal cause I don't trust them to do it fast enough.

As for general stock of this phone, I suspect Xiaomi are responsible. I'd bet that due to the upcoming release of the new Redmi phone expected within the next week, Xiaomi tried to sell stock of the RN3P so offered decent wholesale pricing which vendors leveraged and had big sales. This probably overwhelmed supply cause everyone had them on sale. It has to do with the new release I'd suspect.

        • FYI I had ordered the Gold version and it still hasn't shipped so whatever they're saying about shipping you out a different colour is probably bulls@#t.

I dont trust these bastards and regret buying from them.

        • @yes8s:

Oh, the offer of the gold wasn't for me - it was in the email @Geez received when they mentioned they wanted a refund. They seemed to offer them a gold Redmi because there were still some in the factory.

Yeah, I'm really pissed off about them pretending there was stock too. So far my experience with GeekBuying has been pretty good when stock is in. This is definitely an opposing data point.

They get a +1 for price, -1 for communication, and -5 for selling me something they didn't have (or simply sending the stock to someone else) but taking the money straight away.

I would have been ok if, in the beginning, they said something like "hey, we don't have any yet, but you can buy it at this price and we'll send it out when we get it". I mean, I did ask if this was a pre-sale or flash-sale earlier in the piece, but was assured that it wasn't. From the "it is estimated that it will be in stock a week" line I can tell that they don't know when it will be in stock, and I'd better get ready for another "sorry, we don't have stock yet do you mind waiting" email again.

          sigh.

I guess I just keep waiting now and hope for stock to arrive soon.

        • @yes8s:

          Also, received this one yesterday:

          Dear friend
Thank you for your waiting patiently
please don't worry ,once the item you ordered is in stock
          We will inform you ASAP
