The purpose of this page is to catalogue the various fuel discounts, gift cards and loyalty programs redeemable at a range of service stations across Australia.

This page will not cover fuel charge cards issued by various service stations (e.g. BP Plus, AmpolCard, Shell Card), as fuel charge cards usually require an ABN to register.

This page also covers frequency asked questions (FAQs) related to service stations.

7-Eleven is a network of over 600 service stations selling Mobil fuel across Australia.

7-Eleven is a partner of Velocity Frequent Flyer, the loyalty program of Virgin Australia. Velocity Frequent Flyer members can earn points on the following purchases at 7-Eleven:

• 2 Velocity Points per litre of U95 and U98
• 1 Velocity Point per litre of E10, U91 and diesel
• 2 Velocity Points per $1 spent in-store on eligible products - more information on eligible products can be found on the 7-Eleven website.

The My 7-Eleven app also offers loyalty rewards to users that can be redeemed on the 7th visit to 7-Eleven.

Fuel Price Lock

7-Eleven offers a Fuel Price Lock system through the My 7-Eleven app, where you can lock in the lowest pump price for a specific grade of fuel at a nearby 7-Eleven service station. The next time you purchase fuel at a 7-Eleven service station and use the My 7-Eleven app:

• If the pump price is up to (or exactly) 25c/L more expensive than the Fuel Price Lock, the fuel will be charged at the price in the Fuel Price Lock.
• If the pump price is more than 25c/L more expensive than the Fuel Price Lock, the Fuel Price Lock system will only apply a 25c/L discount to the pump price. For example, if the pump price is 220.9c/L and the Fuel Price Lock for the same grade of fuel is 184.9c/L, the Fuel Price Lock will only lower the pump price to 195.9c/L.
• If the pump price is lower than the Fuel Price Lock, the fuel will be charged at the pump price.

A Fuel Price Lock can only be redeemed once within the seven days, and cannot be manually removed from your 7-Eleven account.

There are ways of falsifying your device’s location data (known on OzBargain as “using a chopper”) to make the My 7-Eleven app think you are near the location of a particular service station, which is particularly useful when a 7-Eleven service station is selling fuel at a substantially lower price than the 7-Eleven service stations physically near you. “Using a chopper” is discussed in more detail in an OzBargain forum post, but it is against the My 7-Eleven app terms and conditions. 7-Eleven can (and does) suspend or terminate My 7-Eleven accounts suspected of violating the terms and conditions, and also reserves the right to void any Fuel Price Locks where 7-Eleven believes it was provided in error.

Other discounts - ongoing offers

7-Eleven sells physical 7-Eleven gift cards that can be redeemed for fuel purchases across all stations in Australia.

7-Eleven-branded Activ Visa gift cards are also available through a number of gift card portals, including ShopBack, Giftz.com.au and HCF Thank You.

Ampol is a large network of over 1800 service stations across Australia that are either operated by Ampol (where Ampol themselves set the prices of fuel) or its franchisees.

Ampol was previously branded as Caltex, but ceased using the Caltex trademark in December 2022. Any service stations in Australia that are currently using the Caltex trademark are not associated with Ampol at all.

This section is divided into three sub-sections:

• Ampol Foodary - service stations typically operated by Ampol
• EG Ampol - a large Ampol franchisee that primarily operates the former Woolworths Petrol service stations
• Other Ampol service stations

NOTE: this section on Ampol excludes U-GO service stations. Although U-GO is owned and operated by Ampol, it is not part of the Ampol network.

Ampol Foodary service stations are typically operated by Ampol, where Ampol sets the prices of fuel sold at these service stations.

Approximately 50 Ampol Foodary service stations were previously branded as Ampol Woolworths Metro or Ampol Woolworths MetroGo, but this branding was phased out in late 2023.

For the purposes of this section:

• Any service stations listed as Ampol Foodary on the Ampol store locator (as well as the Ampol in Exmouth, WA) are in scope.

Everyday Rewards is accepted at nearly 600 Ampol Foodary service stations across mainland Australia, where you can:

• Earn 1x Everyday Rewards point per dollar spent on fuel (capped at 150 points per transaction) and most in-store purchases.
• Redeem a digital Woolworths fuel voucher stored on an Everyday Rewards account. (NOTE: this is only possible at Ampol Foodary service stations accepting the Woolworths fuel discount.)

Everyday Rewards Dollars are not accepted as a payment method.

Ampol Foodary service stations in TAS are currently excluded from the Everyday Rewards program. However, Everyday Rewards members can still redeem the Woolworths fuel discount at participating Ampol Foodary service stations in TAS by presenting their Everyday Rewards card at the time of payment in-store. A fuel voucher does not need to be stored on an Everyday Rewards card in order to claim this discount.

All Ampol Foodary service stations across Australia accept Ampol / partner discounts. Participating Ampol Foodary service stations also accept the Woolworths fuel discount offer.

Ampol Foodary service stations accepting the Woolworths fuel discount offer officially permit that to be stacked with the following fuel offers:

• My NRMA fuel discount offer
• My NRMA in-store spend offer
• APOD fuel discount offer.

Ampol Foodary service stations accepting the Woolworths fuel discount offer may not allow stacking of any other fuel discount offer with the Woolworths fuel discount in the same transaction. An attendant and/or the POS system may block such attempts. For example:

• A Woolworths fuel discount may not be stacked with a myToyota fuel discount offer.
• A Woolworths fuel discount may not be stacked with an Ampol Energy fuel discount offer.

Ampol Foodary service stations will not allow multiple Ampol / partner discount offers to be redeemed in the same transaction. Any attempt to use a second Ampol / partner discount will see the first partner discount automatically voided by the checkout system.

• An Ampol Energy fuel discount offer cannot be stacked with a Lexus Encore fuel discount offer.
• A myHyundai fuel discount offer cannot be stacked with the My NRMA fuel discount offer.

Woolworths fuel discount

Additionally, Woolworths Group and Endeavour Group employees are eligible for a fuel discount at Ampol Foodary service stations accepting the Woolworths fuel discount.

Notes

• A Woolworths fuel voucher is not awarded on the purchase of any gift cards at Woolworths and Woolworths Metro.
• The additional 2c/L discount at participating TAS Ampol Foodary service stations may be terminated at any time without notice.
• The Woolworths fuel discount offer can be stacked with the My NRMA discount offer, the My NRMA in-store spend offer and the APOD discount offer.
• The Woolworths fuel discount offer cannot be officially stacked with any other type of Ampol / partner discount. Any attempt to redeem the two discounts in the same transaction may see the first discount presented automatically voided by the checkout system.
• Only one Ampol / partner discount (e.g. My NRMA, myToyota) can be used in one transaction. Any attempt to use a second Ampol / partner discount will see the first partner discount automatically voided by the checkout system.
• The Woolworths fuel discount offer or Ampol partner discount can be redeemed in conjunction with AmpolCash gift cards (unless fuel is being paid using FuelPay within the Ampol app).

• A small proportion of Ampol service stations also previously accepted physical WISH and Essentials gift cards issued by Woolworths Group, but this arrangement ended on 21 Sep 2021.

EG Ampol (sometimes referred to as EG Australia or EG Fuelco) is a network of over 500 service stations operated by EG Group within the Ampol network. Nearly all of these service stations were previously operated by Woolworths Group under the Woolworths Petrol and Woolworths Caltex brands.

EG Ampol service stations previously used the Caltex trademark in conjunction with the Woolworths trademark, but the use of the Caltex trademark was completely phased out in December 2022.

For the purposes of this section:

• Any service stations that appear on the EG store locator are in scope.
• Any service stations that appear on the Ampol store locator as anything other than an EG Ampol are out of scope.

Everyday Rewards is accepted at all EG Ampol service stations across mainland Australia, where you can:

• Earn 1x Everyday Rewards point per dollar spent on fuel and most in-store purchases.
• Redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars on fuel and most in-store purchases.
• Redeem a digital Woolworths fuel voucher stored on an Everyday Rewards account.

EG Ampol service stations in TAS are currently excluded from the Everyday Rewards program. However, a digital Woolworths fuel voucher stored on an Everyday Rewards account can still be redeemed at these service stations.

EG Ampol offers three types of discount offers:

1. Woolworths fuel discount
2. Spend in-store offer
3. EG / partner discount

All three types of discount offers can be redeemed in the same transaction when paying for fuel in-store (excluding LPG), but only one of each type of discount offer can be redeemed in the same transaction. For example:

• One Woolworths fuel discount can be used in conjunction with one EG / partner discount in the same transaction (i.e. “stacked”).
• Two EG / partner discounts cannot be stacked in the same transaction.

However, if fuel is being paid for through the Pay At Pump feature on the EG Club app, the only two discounts that can be redeemed through Pay At Pump are:

• A Woolworths fuel voucher stored on an Everyday Rewards account linked to the EG Club app
• EG Club member discount

• Fuel discount offers can be redeemed in conjunction with AmpolCash gift cards, Woolworths Group gift cards and Everyday Rewards Dollars.

Participating BP service stations across Australia accept BP Rewards. Members can opt to receive their rewards in the form of BP Rewards points or Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

BP Rewards members earn:

• 2 points per litre of BP Ultimate Unleaded
• 1 point per litre of other fuel types
• 1 point per $1 spent on eligible in-store products

BP Rewards allows a member to redeem BP Rewards points for:

• Discounts on fuel and eligible in-store products (1 BP Rewards point = 1c discount, and the minimum points required to redeem a discount is 500) when paying in-person or via the BPme app, or
• Gift cards at participating retailers (i.e. David Jones)
• Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

BP currently offers digital and physical gift cards.

• Physical gift cards issued before 06 May 2022 can continue to be redeemed at all BP service stations across Australia.
• Digital gift cards issued from 23 May 2022 can only be redeemed at participating service stations across Australia.

Only one BP gift card can be redeemed per transaction; if a BP gift card does not have a sufficient balance to cover the amount owed, the remaining amount owed will need to paid using another accepted payment method (e.g. cash, debit card, credit card).

Caltex is a network of service stations in Australia selling fuel supplied by Chevron.

Chevron also own the Puma Energy network of service stations in Australia, and will progressively rebrand them to Caltex starting from 2022.

Caltex / Puma Energy is not to be confused with:

• Ampol: Ampol is a large network of service stations across Australia that are either owned by Ampol or its franchisees. Ampol previously used the Caltex trademark under a licensing agreement with Chevron, but ceased using the Caltex trademark on any of its (or its franchisee’s) service stations in December 2022.
• EG Ampol: EG Group owns a network of service stations in Australia, which is mostly comprised of the Woolworths Petrol service stations once operated by Woolworths Group. EG Ampol previously used the Caltex trademark under a sub-licensing agreement with Ampol, but ceased using the Caltex trademark on any of its service stations in December 2022.

Caltex Rewards is accepted at over 220 participating service stations across Australia, where members can earn points on the following purchases:

• 2 Caltex Rewards points per litre of Premium Unleaded 98
• 1 Caltex Rewards point per litre of all other types of fuel sold at the pump

500 Caltex Rewards points can be redeemed for a $10 discount on fuel purchases at service stations accepting Caltex Rewards.

Costco is a members-only warehouse that operates service stations at a number of their warehouses across Australia, selling fuel supplied by Mobil.

Purchasing fuel at Costco requires a Costco membership. However, due to the membership requirement and the use of automated fuel dispensers (aka pay-at-the-pump machines), fuel prices at Costco are usually noticeably cheaper than other service stations in the surrounding area.

Shell Coles Express / Reddy Express is a network of service stations across Australia selling Shell fuel supplied by Viva Energy.

Viva Energy is currently in the process of rebranding Shell Coles Express service stations to Shell Reddy Express.

Shell Coles Express offers three types of discount offers:

A Coles fuel voucher can be used in conjunction with the in-store spend offer in the same transaction (i.e. “stacked”), and a Viva Energy discount may also be stacked in the same transaction, depending on the terms and conditions of the Shell Coles Express / Reddy Express or Viva Energy discount offer. • One Coles fuel voucher can be redeemed alongside one Viva Energy discount in the same transaction.

Chevron is large multinational energy company that owns a network of service stations across Australia, including service stations currently branded as Puma Energy.

Chevron also owns the Caltex trademark, which is currently used on some of Chevron's own service stations and is licensed to other companies (e.g. OTR).

Ampol is an energy company that operates a large number of service stations across Australia. It also supplies fuel and licences its branding to a number of licensees across Australia (including EG and Bennett's Petroleum).

The company currently called Ampol was formed in 1995 when Ampol merged with Caltex to form Australian Petroleum, which was renamed to Caltex Australia in 1997. Chevron owned a 50% stake in Caltex Australia until its divestment in 2015, but permitted Caltex Australia to continue using the Caltex trademark under licence. However, it notified Caltex Australia in 2019 that it would terminate the licencing agreement and require Caltex Australia to cease using the Caltex trademark by the end of 2022.

Caltex is a trademark owned by Chevron.

Chevron - which purchased the Australian Puma Energy service station network in 2019 - is in the process of rebranding the Puma Energy network of service stations over to the Caltex trademark. Chevron also licenses the Caltex trademark to other companies, including OTR.

Chevron previously licensed the Caltex trademark to Ampol Limited for use as its stations across Australia, who in turn sub-licensed the Caltex trademark to its various franchisees, including EG Group. However, Ampol completely phased out the Caltex trademark from its network in December 2022.

EG Group owns and operates nearly 540 service stations across Australia, with nearly all of these service stations formerly operated by Woolworths Group before they novated their lease to EG in 2019.

EG sells fuel supplied by Ampol, and operates these service stations under the EG Ampol brand. EG previously used Caltex branding on its network, but this ceased in December 2022.

There are a number of clues to look out for:

• EG service stations appear on the Ampol store locator as EG Ampol, and also appear on the EG store locator.
• EG service stations will either have EG branding or Woolworths branding on the convenience store front. EG stations will not have Foodary branding on the convenience store front.
• The price board (aka pylon) at EG service stations will have EG branding on it and will be either of these designs.
