Flooded Laundry Due to Cracked LG Filter Hose

Model: LG WV5-1408W (3 years old so out of warranty)

Last week our laundry was completely flooded while running a cycle, awful mess.

Tracked the leak down to the small filter hose with the screwcap that you use to empty water before taking the actual filter out, looks like it's developed a small crack where it bends around into the front housing (I've pulled the hose into the cavity to get a picture of the crack).

Video of the leak

LG support have been completely useless, they put you on hold while waiting for a technician and they either never get back to you or offer you a callback that never happens, which is a shame as I'd heard good things about them in the past.

So I can't for the life of me find a repair guide or even a part number for this, would wrapping it in a few layers of silicone rescue tape like a garden hose be a dumb idea?

I'd really appreciate a nudge in the right direction, thanks!

For an RMA Claim under Warranty, Do I Need to Return The Product with All Accessories/Parts?

Bought a Modular PSU from Centrecom 1.5 years ago, and the 5V rail randomly failed yesterday with no signs of life

I can't find the extra cables it came with, do I need these for an RMA? Or is returning the faulty product with the main cables enough?

Should I Report My Neighbour's Chickens?

We recently moved into a new place within Moonee Valley, and unbeknownst to us the neighbour we share a back fence with keeps about a dozen chickens

The coop is about 8m from our master bedroom, no roosters fortunately but they often wake us up in the early morning and it's driving us nuts

I don't mind chickens, and they're fine for most of the day when they're outside, but with the coop so close it feels like they're performing a concert when they all join in with egg song

Problem is that there isn't really anywhere else it can go, as their yard is long but very narrow with houses on all sides, so it's going to annoy someone no matter what

And by council rules they need 15m between any dwelling for a coop, which they don't have anywhere as it's a pretty dense area, so he won't be able to keep them at all anymore

So not sure if we should ask him to move it as far away from us as possible and risk pissing off another neighbour, or get the council to ask him to do it

Figure if we ask him to move it and it's still an issue, then it'd be pretty obvious who called the council. But if we start with the council then it could be any of 5 direct neighbours including us

What the most effective option here that won't make us assholes or enemies? Never dealt with a situation like this before

What Are The Best Medium-Soft Mattresses?

I've gone through most of the typical ozbargain favourites, but they're all on the firm side, so figured I'd come ask what the best softer options are

Budget around $800-$1200, looking at both boxed mattresses and in store mattresses, what should we buy?

Advice on Gating off a Slim Driveway for a Back Unit?

I live in the back unit of a 2 unit development in the north-west of Melbourne, with a massive 18 meter long driveway leading into my property from the street, that I'd like to gate for both privacy and to make sure that our dog can't escape

It's on my title and there are no easements or shared spaces given the front unit has their own driveway, so shouldn't be any legal issues and the front neighbor is fine with it as long as it isn't too loud

However the driveway is only 2.5m wide from fence to fence, and is the only way to get in or out of the property by car or foot, so we're trying to find a swing gate that can be opened by remote and can also be opened by hand, but we're struggling to find anything

Assuming I'm just looking in the wrong places or using the wrong search terms, any advice on how I should get this done? And ozbargain bonus, what's the best way to cut costs for this?

Am I within My Rights to Ask for a New Property Manager (VIC)?

We've been having a shocking time with the property manager of a townhouse we're renting in a relatively posh suburb in Melbourne.

It takes them weeks to respond to emails, if at all given it usually takes a few tries to get a response, I'm pretty sure we're allowed to have a dog now because they just never even acknowledged the pet request form we sent a month ago and it defaults to yes after 2 weeks.

They say they'll follow up on maintenance requests and never do anything about it until we hassle them. And when they do send out trades people, it's usually for a poorly translated version of what actually needs doing, or they're only given a work order for one of several things we needed them to do (and have told the property manager about of course, they're not mind readers).

Only way we've been able to get urgent repairs done is by threatening to do it ourselves with the new laws; a malfunctioning smoke alarm that we've been reporting for 2 months had promise after promise to get it taken care of with no action, but they only sent out a bloke when we said we'd organize it ourselves at their expense.

On top of that, we took them to VCAT for a heater they refused to fix, who issued them with a breach of duty notice and ordered them to fix/replace it by a deadline. The deadline has passed and they still haven't repaired/replaced it, pretty sure the owner is going to get fined $5k+ when we take them back for that, so I feel like they've failed everyone.

Hate that we have to be pushy assholes to get anything done, and I've let a lot of small repairs go as a result. I'm used to sending polite 'Can you please fix x when you have the time, thanks' requests to previous property managers and having it resolved with the same urgency that we get from an ultimatum email here. I don't want to piss them off to the point of them not renewing our lease next year as we love it here, but I have no idea how to get anything done otherwise.

I'm not sure if it's an agency wide problem as we'd had a great experience with the leasing agent and admin staff, but we're sick of it given we've had better service in a place that was 1/2 the price.

Are we entitled/allowed to ask for a different agent? Are there any 'magic words' or advice on how to do so?

Is There Anything I Can Do about an Old Caravan Permanently Parked by My House?

Obligatory MS paint

Our new next door neighbours moved in about three months ago, and have parked a rust bucket old caravan in front of our house since, about 1-2 meters from our driveway. There's on-street parking on our side of the street, which is relatively busy as it's a shortcut from one main road to another.

We don't really care about the caravan being an eyesore, not like we live in a mansion, but it completely blocks out the road when we're trying to get out of our driveway. And it blocks cars from seeing us as well, which is scary because we're on a hill that people fly down. Had a few super close calls because of it, especially during the day when other cars can't see our lights and we can't see theirs, getting out of our garage/driveway is now a 2 person job. Can't park on the street either because they have like 5 cars and have taken it all.

We've tried to talking to them, and they don't care at all. Is there anything else we can do?

Live in Victoria, in Moonee Valley council.

Best Way to Buy/Adopt a Labrador or Golden Retriever in Melbourne?

Me and my partner have recently moved into a place with a small but well fenced in backyard, and feel that we're ready to add a pup to our family.

We've settled on either a Labrador or Golden Retriever, as they're the only breeds that fit all of our wants from a dog: Medium-large size, Yellow/Gold colour, friendly and sociable, low/no prey drive as we have a timid ragdoll cat, easily trainable, 10+ year lives, few genetic health issues, can be off-leash after proper training (no beagles unfortunately), and have medium energy levels (An hour of walking and high-energy play is enough).

I'm stuck on the how though, especially with the covid demand. Most of the puppies we've had before have been from family/friends or gumtree/trading post litters, but it doesn't seem like that's done anymore with the new laws, which is fair enough. We're open to adopting again too and have been looking at the various sites for a while, but only smaller dogs, or larger dogs with high prey drives/energy like greyhounds, staffies and arctic dogs, seem to show up. Breed specific dog rescues have some old dogs that look lovely, except I think we might be too active for a 6+ year old dog, so we're keeping an eye on them as well for younger dogs.

Gumtree has a few Lab puppies for $3500, though for that price I'd want them to come from a good breeder. Goldie puppies go for $6000, so we'd likely go with a yellow lab if we went down the puppy route. Lots of scams recently, so pretty weary.

I don't mind spending good money on a puppy or on a young dog with good socialization, genetics and papers, as I'd end up spending that anyway in vet or trainer bills later in life with more stress. And of course no one can be picky about breed and temperament on a tiny budget, whelping purebred puppies is expensive. Except I can't even find any good breeders with puppies anytime soon who aren't already spoken for, at any price. I know it's me and everyone else, you're not in traffic you are traffic etc, but I'm out of ideas.

Is there anything I haven't thought of yet? Waitlists we can sign up for? Breeder recommendations? Appreciate any advice that can be given

Best 50-55 Inch TV around $600-$700?

Shopping for a new lounge room TV to fit on a 120cm wide entertainment unit. After a bunch of shopping and reviewing I'm stuck between these three models:

Hisence 55" S8
No QLEDs, no Android TV but a custom smart TV version, seems like good build quality and viewing angles from reviews
The stand being slightly recessed means I can fit a 55" from what I can tell

Hitachi 50" SM20
QLED, Android TV, seems solid
The stand being right at the edge means I can only fit a 50" though

TCL 50" P715
QUHD, which I'm 99% sure is just QLED, Android TV, seems solid, can't tell the difference between this and the Hitachi
The stand being right at the edge means I can only fit a 50" as well

Seems like everything has smart TV features, 4k, HDR, VESA, good backlighting, tiny borders and Bluetooth audio at this price, so I'm really struggling to figure out differentiation, and figured I'd ask OzExperts

Is 50" QLED better than 55" LED?
Which of these has the best viewing angle?
Any options I missed?
Which one of these would you buy?
