i haven't had experience with those cheap recliners but for these things you usually get your money's worth and not much more. if you are willing to go second-hand there's a lot of bargains on gumtree…that is, if you don't care who and what went on on them..

Very similar to your first link: I bought a similar one 6 years ago from Kmart.
It was on clearance for $59. The difference is mine was tubular steel framed, not timber, but the cushioning was practically identical in design.
The mechanism wore out after 4 years of daily use. It still worked, but gradually became less and less smooth.
Sometimes it would refuse to recline, you had to jiggle.

I replaced that with something very similar to your second link. Mine was from Homeart for $199 and it has vibrating massage with a corded remote. I never use the massage, as I don't trust it.
Plus all I really wanted was something more solidly built than the first one.

Aside from some stitching in the backrest coming loose, it's still smooth in action and very comfortable.

If you're buying online I would suggest you try something similar at a retailer. You never know, they might even work out cheaper.

  • well only thing is not sure what furniture stores would have something like that. As i've gone to ikea to try have a look and can see sofas or reclining outdoor chairs couldn't see anything like these.

Homeart seem to get them for specific catalog sales, but you could always check if they'd order one.
The Importer (formerly Jenerick) may also have something.

At the risk of many negatives, your local HN should have at least six of the smallish (exposed frame) type. They'll have even more of the fully upholstered type. It's okay for the purpose of trying which type is better, but don't expect anything under $400.

Having used both, I prefer the one-piece units. The separate footrest can put pressure on your calves/achilles and affect circulation.

      Good luck Clinton!

Or publicly, because there's more than 10 available:

    $132 delivered

There's was even better deal for a similar one but I called OW and there's no stock ANYWHERE!
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Furniture/Cha…
It was $4.98. I wanted one for the garage…

I took a screen capture as I also advised the OW operator to have the page deleted if stock is zero!
