    Is it made of gold!

I don't really understand the point of adding so much bulk at such a big price …

I guess if you want to take your phone in the water/at the beach … but then again holding onto a device at a beach makes it a lesser experience.

I'll just stick to my naked Galaxy Nexus.

do you guarantee the phone if the 'waterproofing' leaks?

    • +1

I would buy if it came with a guarantee. To test the guarantee :)

Seems $5 or $10 off the usual prices is a bargain nowdays. Not for me

  • you can buy a iphone 3GS for $89 these days

Back to the point .. where is the bargain, its just standard price

Off topic: i bought the $1 heavy duty case for my iphone 4S and it does the job

back to the topic … Its still standard price, you can get it off ebay or amazon for this price

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUTHENTIC-iPhone-5-Otterbox-Armor… from Canada with a free USB cable & wall charger

    • More expensive, not Aus stock. $1 case offers no water resistance even, let alone proofing.

      • ~ $91 and you get a free iphone cable

        not Aus stock

But are they not all made in china , and you get the option to pay with paypal

        • You know I meant seller.

        • +1

A $89 sale means $8 goes to GST

Otterbox stands by their product, even if you manage to drop it and crack it - they will replace it

So if "shit" happens, buying local means you won't have to ship it back to Canada -

          http://www.otterbox.com/warranty-full/warranty-full,default,…

You still have to send it to them , im assuming its a US address

Its only the first 30 days that you are required to send it back to the place of purchase (which is your store), unless you are offering a 1 year warranty in which you will replace it .

        • +2

          Nope

We handle all returns, you send it back to us and we will deal with Australian distributors

        • then this deserves a positive it that case

  • I work outdoors, specifically around rivers and creeks, but like to carry my phone with me for various reasons. I also object to the throwaway culture of 'just buy another one'. Great product, good price. There is nothing else like it on the market last time I checked.

    • Its one thing to say its water resistant, and another thing to guarantee your iphone from water damage.

Do Ottorbox guarantee your iphone if it gets water damage while in the case?

      • I doubt it, how could you possibly prove such a thing?
But if you've ever owned an otterbox case, you would be inclined to believe them.

  • Is this case better than life proof case

  • I have to admit i'd never buy one but i'm sure it will cater for some people,i don't think it's a case for the average joe, more the market for a bear grylls type person who would need to protect there phone.

So i wouldn't knock the high price myself.

    Hi peeps

I can see there's a good conversation going regarding the waterproof feature

This is taken from the official website

he Armor Series waterproof iPhone 5 case has been tested to be underwater at 6.6 feet for 30 minutes, withstand a 10 foot drop, allow zero entry of dust or debris and sustain 2 tons of crushing force. The Armor Series is not waterproof when the charging port or headphone jack are in use.

Personal take, this case is waterproof against accident dunk

    • but its not designed to be taken for a swim, unlike the lifeproof cases

But having said that, lifeproof case is not drop proof and will definitely be crushed if it gets run over by a car/truck (e.g. 2 tons)

If you are going on a hike in the bush, take the otterbox
If you are going for a swim and for some crazy reason decide to take your phone with you, go for the lifeproof case…

don't know how else to put it :)

This case aint for everyone and certainly not required for the average your day to day use. But if you need this kind of protection than its considered a cheap insurance.

I went on a europe trip and got my phone wet because it was raining and snowing everywhere, the cost of repair alone was $79 to get my speakers fixed because of slight water damage…. Considered myself lucky because water damage usually result in dead phones for good.

  • Hi Ace,

Is there any room to move on the Speck FitFolio for iPad Mini in Black? Also, would it be cheaper if I pick it up as I live close by?
