EOFY TV Sales

Hey!

Any advice on when the End Of Financial Years Sales start? Specifically looking for a good TV deal. Currently using a 24" monitor in living room to watch movies.

Now I'm not in a hurray as my girlfriend and I don't really watch that much TV, though she loves her Halo (yes she's quite an avid gamer, yes I know I'm lucky) and we do like watching movies once or twice a week, so I'm not looking for a SUPER ELITE 3D 55" BEHEMOTH TOP OF THE LINE display as it won't get used the 6-10 hours per day people tend to rack up.

Looking for these features:

Size: 42-46" (can be bigger I guess, though these sizes are preferable)
Refresh: Over 50Hz for game. So 100-200Hz (doubt I'll afford a 200Hz though)
Smart: Don't really care
HDMI: 2-3 would be best
Audio Out: Optical or Coaxial Audio out HIGHLY preferred.
Brand: Not Too fussed, as long as it works well and the colours look nice and doesn't break (Multi-year warranty would be nice)
Price: Around (or Sub) $500
Timeframe: Anytime from NOW to June/July.

So if anyone has any predictions on time frames, potential deals, or where a good place to keep an eye out (apart from ozbargain) let me know.

  • you'll have to go in-store and have a look. for under $500 you'll only be able to get the cheapie brands like Dick Smith or Vivo

  • To start your search, check out here:

This is the size you're after, and basically, $500 or under, you're looking at Soniq. Go instore and ask for cash price, see what you can get. Maybe a cheap alternate brand.

Oh I wouldn't imagine I would be getting a deal until May/June, when the sales start. Just seeing if anyone had an idea of what kind of price drop I might be looking at.

    • How long is a piece of string??
All the major elec retailers have web sites… and fb pages as well.
Check them regularly to see what is happening.
      Stick with led/lcd not plasma.

+1 for not going with Plasma… old tech is old.

LED is becoming as cheap as LCD
