Hi Everyone,
I bought an N54L a while back and am slowly making it my primary media center but one thing has thrown me:
I bought a cheapo USB remote and reciever - same model as pictured in http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-IR-Receiver-Wireless-Media-Re…
but although I can 'teach' my Logitech Harmony One commands (when I press a button it acknowledges it) the reciever doesn't acknowledge it's button presses.
Has anyone had this? Is it a technical limitation? Any suggestions? I would rather if libcec worked through HDMI on video cards but that doesn't seem to be the case…
I essentially want to (ideally) control XBMC and maybe, to a basic extent, the pc from my universal remote.
Cheers.
I have one of those on order for my N54L too, also for use with my harmony remote (although I have an old 515).
The receiver would need to be recognised by your operating system first. What OS are you using? If windows, there should be a "administrator settings->device manager somewhere. In there should be a list of recognised things in the USB ports.
Once the OS recognises it, then make sure xbmc is set up to use it.
Then see if you can send and receive commands from the remote that came bundled with it.
Once that's working, then you can try and set up the harmony to work with it.
edit: in the mean time, there's an xbmc remote app for android you could use on your phone if you have an android phone on the same network as the htpc.
