Manfrotto Pocket Series tripod for compact cameras.
These things are tiny. Click the video on the left side of the amazon page for info on the product.

Normal price $19.95
Today's price $12.95

This is the lowest Amazon price for this item (according to CamelCamelCamel), and so far the cheapest I could find anywhere. If you find it cheaper, let us know.

The tripod is ideal for protecting your precious camera's base from harsh surfaces I reckon, in addition to placing it level and safe on irregular or slip-prone surfaces.

The black version of this tripod is going for $19.95 on Amazon (Manfrotto MP1-C01). This little grey one (Manfrotto MP1-C02) is the one being discounted heavily, down to a much more palatable $12.95, excluding delivery. There isn't much to this thing, after all, so I think $12.95 is more reasonable.

There is a model available for DSLRs too, but that is going for an excessive price, in my opinion. You may be interested in that one though. It can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-MP3-D02-Pocket-Series-Tripod…

Let's break down the costs.

$12.95 Manfrotto MP1-C02 pocket tripod
$8.48 delivery

$21.43 delivered

Not bad, eh? Considering that the normal price is just shy of $20 for the thing.
If buying some other stuff on Amazon.com (and choosing Amazon.com as the seller), postage should be more worthwhile.

Make sure Amazon.com is the seller for this item when adding this to your cart. Amazon are known to chop-n-change to third-party sellers (and back again) in a heartbeat.

If you find a cheaper price or are quite fond of a better alternative pocket tripod, let us know in the comments!

For now, feel free to bag a (little) bargain!
Enjoy.

  • sound like a rep?

    • I wish.
Just looking at lots of cam gear lately and noticing some Manfrotto bargains. I wish Amazon directly sold more Slik tripod stuff (without third parties), which is expensive to send from B&H. I have no brand loyalty, but if Manfrotto (or Amazon) want to hire me, they can contact me if they want :)

    • +1

Highly doubt it as it's directly from Amazon.

  • has anyone used one of these before? been tempted to buy it before. Would be great while travelling, but not sure how useful they actaully are. i just end up setting up my camera on my backpack

    • If you're using a smaller camera (mirrorless, compact, maybe small dslr with kit lens) I'd recommend one of these:
      http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/825599-REG/Joby_GP20_0…

Folds up under camera, and can fold out in a second when you need it for a timed shot etc. But, if you're backpack works for you, why change :)

      • that looks nice. I got a D90 so might be a bit big

        • I've used it successfully with an OM-D and the relatively heavy 7-14mm lens. So, if just using a smaller prime or kit lens, my gut feel is it would handle a D90, but would be close to the limit. It's surpisingly well made and solid little thing. Not like those crappy table tripods you get from ebay etc.

I haven't used the Manfrotto listed here, but I suspect the Joby has a bit more grunt to it. Maybe I am missing something, but the Manfrotto just seems to protect the bottom. The Joby allows (limited) angling and direction.

  • $24.89 now ?

    • Bah!
      Amazon.com just switched to a third-party seller.

Keep the page in your bookmarks and check back again later. I reckon they will switch it back to amazon.com as the seller again. Which is why I had that line in my description about making sure amazon.com is the seller. They do this often. This happened to me on a previous Manfrotto deal I posted too, which I marked as expired: http://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-190XPROB-Section-Aluminum-Tr…

But it's not expired since they switched back from the expensive third-party seller to amazon.com as the seller again, and the low price I posted is still valid (for now!).

Long story short: please check back on this deal later to see if amazon.com is listed as the seller rather than a silly expensive third-party. Thank you!

    Just bought it

Is this correct? It's sold by Amazon LLC, it showed as 3rd party for $24.89 and then I clicked 'new from 12.49', so I click that one instead and placed the order. Rarely bought items from amazon, what is the chance that items arrive before 'delivery estimate'?

    • I overlooked that.
You got it for the correct price.
Amazon.com is still listed when clicking on "new from $12.95"

      Excellent.
      Thanks for the tip.
I think I've been conditioned to ignore clicking on that, but amazon.com is there offering the bargain.

Long story short: the deal is still on!
      ;)

I've had many items arrive before the delivery estimate, by the way. But some have come later. I guess it depends but the chances are pretty good, I reckon :) Some items I've ordered have had their late delivery estimates pushed forward by several weeks to become a regularly scheduled delivery.

This tripod is great for the Pentax Q's that a lot of Ozbargainers bought from Teds.

  • After trying this thing, it is pretty much what I expected; small little legs for your camera allowing limited tilting and basic bottom protection.

I definitely wouldn't pay $20 for it, so it's a good thing it was discounted. The included pouch and included larger screw thread is a nice touch.

A screw-tightener on a string is included. You attach it to the pocket tripod so you don't lose it.

I would recommend against the screw-tightener being attached with the string to the tripod; the exposed metal surface of the screw-tightener can easily scratch your camera when dangling around in your camera bag, so it's best to keep it unattached and in a soft pocket.

That thing dangling about can do some damage. Aside from that, this mini tripod gives the camera some basic protection & stability and is built well.
