Get yourself a pair of Sony MH1

I bought a pair for myself to experiment, and I can say they are no slouchers compared to my much more expensive XBA-3 and EX1000.
Vsonic GR02 are the best I have ever tried and were the best sub $50 IEMs at the time on the Multi Iem Review on head-fi:

they are made in china so don't get put off by the fact that's where the seller is.
They have since been replaced by Vsonic VC02 ($40)which got an even better score
thanks for the link to the reviews!
I will pick a shure215.
Where can you get these for under $50?
I've been using Philips SHE9700 (In-Ear-Earphones) for a while now. Great sound and good noise isolation.

Generally good reviews, and (somewhat) a bargain, considering it's price

Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone know of any headphones where the cable plugs into the cans? My toddler just killed another set of headphones by pulling on them. I was hoping there might be headphones where the cable can simply unplug from the cans.
Superlux hd668b. Many models have this feature but these cans are only around $40 and are probably the best sound under $100.
many thanks, i appreciate it. I will try and find a pair of those, they seem hard to come by locally though.
There was a guy here that was selling them, who I can vouch for, but that was a while ago, not sure if he still has any: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72315
