Waiting for Galaxy S3 4G to go to special pricing

Will this pay off?

I'm basically waiting for a Virgin plan that'll get me the phone (or a similarly specced one) and their lowest monthly calls/data for around $35/month (currently at $50/month).

With the Samsung S4 and the HTC One coming along soon and surely other brands and models to follow, is it likely there'll be a decent special in the coming 2-3 months? Or do you think they'll do what they're doing now with the S3 (3G) and Note II (3G) where the price is only ~$7/month different, and I'm just not going to get this kind of price in the near future?

  • Note that you get a virgin plan without a phone:

    1: You get $10/month off

2: You don't have to pay any mobile surcharge ($35/month implies $29 plan with $6/month surcharge)

3: You are not locked in and can change at any time

Given that you are talking about paying 16 * 24 = $384 even if you never change to a better plan, Typically the cost of the phone will fall below this before you can get the plan you describe.

    • Solid logic.

Both for avoiding upfront costs and because it's a business purchase and easier to deal with taxwise, I prefer to keep it on the monthly scheme.

The $16 x 24 = $384 means that it'd have to drop to at least $300ish outright before I consider it worthwhile. I'll keep an eye out for that as well though.
