Hi all,
Just wondering what others have used and find useful with professional video camera bags.
I have purchased a prosumer video camera that is quite large (Sony HXR-MC1500P) and need a bag to fit.
My two options were a Pelican hard case or a Lowepro Magnum DV 6500 AW.
Any other recommendations/reviews ?
Thanks :-)
Depends how mobile you want to be. Personally I'd go with the Pelican case for the protection, works great out of the back of a car etc, but you don't want to be lugging it too far. If you need to walk long distances, up stairs or in other tight quarters, the soft bag over the shoulder would be the better choice. Both of your choices are excellent.
With the Pelican cases I have, I get a custom foam insert cut to snugly suit the contents, from a proper transit case supply company — I use http://www.aerolyte.com.au, not sure who is available in the Gold Coast area. They are reasonably cheap to get done. Pelican cases have a lifetime warranty against any damage if I remember correctly (broken hinges, seals, handles, latches, split plastic, getting run over by trucks - seriously!) Better than look-alike cases with pick-and-pluck foam from e.g. SuperCheapAuto. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-S…
Depending on how much gear you have, these cargo cases are also good protection: http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_cargo-case-pelic… There are other sizes available.
