Thank you for that aznp2pro4u :)

      • What drive is in it? And what is the warranty conditions?

        • A-Data and its 3 years. thanks have updated description.

  • Not as cheap as dick smith's $99 for 1.5TB or amazon's $130++ for 2TB… but still pretty 'okay'.

    • +1

I believe the selling point here is the ability to be labelled?..

      • Excuse my ignorance but what does it mean, able to be labelled?

How would "Smart categorization and classification" make my life easier if I use them as movie/image storage/transport?

  • +1

For a 1TB, this is pretty cheap.

    • below cost cheap… ;) - these are not a cheap drive.

  • +1

Have seen The Toshiba at 81 with a free pouch, so we are offering a free pouch too :)

    • Will you do a deal on two? You can PM me or just say no? :)

  • What brand disk drive is inside?

  • A-Data make their own, not so well known in Australia.

I love how ozb now includes the productreview star rating etc of a merchant for everyone to hopefully see. Gotta wonder how after only 20 reviews they've managed an impressively abysmal 1.3 out of 5 (18/20 one star lol!).

For those who are not yet aware, ITSpot are just megabuy trading under a different name.

    Caveat emptor.

    • -5

hundreds of thousands of orders and only 20 reviews.. seems a little one sided eh.

Would you like me to ship you a smile? free for you Foobs.

      xoxo :)

      • +5

Thanks for the offer, but I'd probably only have to keep calling, emailing and hassling you endlessly about when you're going to ship it even though you'll probably claim to have plenty of them "in stock" only to then start blaming suppliers etc when you fail over and over to uphold your obligation.

While there are a few positive reviews out there, it's the staggering amount of negatives you've collectively accumulated that can't simply be dismissed or put aside, and let's not forget the countless horror stories all over the whirlpool forums.

Add those whirlpool experiences up with all the terrible reviews of your other entities megabuy, tech4u and you've got something that's just not possible to get past.

I've had plenty of poor shopping experiences but I never take to a site like productreview or truelocal to vent, it's just too much hassle, far easier to just put it behind me and move on. Occasionally I might contact a parent company to let them know about shonkyness but I can't think of a single occasion where I've reviewed a business online.

Now, I've mentioned this because I'd bet most people are like me in this regard, and if I'm right, then you can probably take all those appalling review numbers and multiply them by ten, maybe even by a hundred and that would most likely be a better representation of how many unhappy customers you've left in your wake.

My Jimmies are rustled well done.

    • Didn't know that, and didn't notice that. Where does the rating come from?

      • Click it and find out. The rating should probably be a lot lower as I'd say that most of the 1/5 star reviews would be 0/5 if that were an option.

        • Yes, delivery seems to be the biggest problem and leads to others.

ADATA is a quality brand, I have always liked their drives and SD Cards.

  • smart idea for the label & design like a book to store on shelf! I like it!
too bad the price isn't as cheap as Amazon 2TB and dicksmith 1.5TB…….

    • +1

That shelf is holding 225TB in a 15x5x3 configuration costing $16069.50 delivered from ITSpot! How many photos, music and business documents (the three example labels) will I need to collect and generate to fill that shelf?

      • +1

        zero, its photoshopped.

  • +1

It would be sweeter deal if it becomes free delivery or half price delivery? :p

  • The delivery cost is a bit off-putting. My first 2Gb flash drive was an AData. Encased in thick rubber,$69.95 in BigW, it was the cheapest deal I could find.

    Itspot / Megabuy…. No thank you…

I think ozbargainers need to be reminded what sort of company they are..

      Haters gonna hate.

      • +4

Good answer mate. Now you will sell an extra 100 on the site.

      • I'll still consider a deal on two if you are interested.

        • @MarkB4 I love your persistence. I hope they PM you a good deal. (or share a good deal for everyone)

        • I had second thoughts. Nothing wrong with the brand AFAIK. Too much bad feedback for 'parent' company and in other lines a business with too bad a rep just changes the name to carry on business.

Some observant fellow noticed, @foobar I think it was - and thanks to 'him'.

      • if you wanna win your image back, do some SUPER AMAZING deals or you'll lose customer every single time the old news passed on!

after all, it's you who ripped the customers for the microserver!

  • I bought a A Data 320Gb drive may be 5 years ago from overseas. Didnt really know abt the brand but it surprised me with its performance so far… able to label means u get the alphabets stickers and u can stick it in..thats it..
looks more like a little notepad.. I will definitely buy if the postage is $0

  • Will i be able to take the drive out and put it in my macbook?

    • Guess you'd have to get it first!

  • +2

Thanks foosbar for the info about the Co's review. I was going to buy from them but now that I know the customers reviews I decided to pull out. Anyway I found in iibuy.com.au about a week ago Adata was going at $79.95. Not too sure if they still have it.

  • +1

Rep offered me a deal on two but gear is no good to me. Will go for one which is still a good deal at the price and will get back with experience.

  • Bought one and it arrived quick enough, in a plastic bag with no padding via Couriers Please. It didn't have the 'Free' case with it and I have had no reply to my emails to both theirs nor to PM's to the rep here. And cable is too short at about 12 inches.

After sales CS is non existent, as was indicated earlier in this thread, and I wouldn't touch this company again with a barge pole.

PS I would take back the + I gave them if I knew how or could.

    • Right up the top of the post you should see tabs / text "view revisions votes" - click on votes and you should be able to revoke your + in there.

It's possible that it may be too late to do so, not sure if there are time limits on deal votes.

Shame about the crappy packaging, the missing case and complete lack of service and support, but this is 100% typical of this mob. There's so many similar and worse stories out there and now there's one more.

      You were warned :)

      • Yes, I was. :)

But I am always willing to listen. In this case the absence of the actual sense of things, the facial cues we take to read the integrity of a situation or person, was the pitfall. It's the way it is …

Thanks, that seems to have done it.

PS I also reported the deal as being false where the free case is concerned.

        • Did you hear anything from the rep? They've been on recently and almost certainly would have seen your post and definitely seen your private message(s).

Just wondering if they bothered to reply to your PM at all as they haven't said anything in public to explain the poor packaging and missing case.

        • No, they didn't bother and I'm done with them. Lousy business practise, it catches up …
