We have been using a HP Compaq Pressario 3GB Ram for about 7 years … which is still functioning quite well. Recently upgraded it to WIndows 8 and Office 10. Not the mini screen, possibly 18" or similar. We paid about $500 from Good Guys for it as it was making way for a newer model (with videoo cam … which we don't bother with anyways). I have seen some for sale on ebay really cheap. If I was in the market at the moment (expect to sometime soon … well 7 years is a long time in the stakes of technology), but not until this one has gone to laptop heaven.
Find what suits your requirements then ask them "What's your best price?" That's what we will be doing sometime … one day in the future.
It's OK for general use.
