Thanks it's for my son to collect
What is the model
How much?
I have found on several occasions that Good Guys will beat any other merchandiser's price. Wouldn't be buying any consoles (or games!) from China or Hong Kong, etc. - Genuine risk of buying counterfeits.
I bought my son a 3DS last Christmas from Good Guys - For some reason he didn't want the XL version (same price though). I also bought him the WiiU - Check prices about then take your evidence to Good Guys and ask what is your "best price for me?"
Cheers
ps. If you purchase from the UK you will require a universal travel adaptor, for charging purposes. They are not that expensive these days (check Dick Smith) but do you want that nuisance? I'd rather purchase one in Australia, postage is expensive from UK and US and at least you know what you are buying.
There are many trusted China/HK sellers who sell genuine stock of consoles/games at very competitive prices. As someone who has bought everything from my PSOne, PS2, PSP, DS Lite and PS3 from China/HK sellers, along with a huge game library - I confidently say there is no "genuine" risk of buying counterfeits unless you're dimwitted enough to not do your research on the seller and the item beforehand to tell a fake from a real product.
The only "genuine" risk you take by buying consoles/games from China/HK is region locking if you don't know which consoles have the restriction. (i.e. an Asian region 3DS XL uses the NTSC region - same as the US, so any games you buy in Australia will not work on it).
Moreso, i don't think i've ever come across anyone reporting a counterfeit 3DS XL nor have i ever seen anything remotely suspicious when hunting for my own 3DS XL.
So I am "dimwitted" because I inadvertently purchased a DS game once on eBay from a "reputable supplier." What on Earth could be wrong in advising someone to be careful of this occurence?
Seller had thousands of items sold, many happy customers etc., but it was obvious (to me at least) that the DS game I bought was a counterfeit. So many customers are apparently happy they have bought a cheaper, albeit counterfeit, game! eBay does it's best to weed out counterfeit sellers but it is not an easy task; has often advised me not to continue with certain purchases, from the Asian region … for that very reason!
I'd rather buy from an reputable Australian company that comes with the backing of a solid guarantee from Nintendo. Sometimes it is worth the few extra dollars to get the genuine item, with the peace of mind that you can resale the item later, with a very clear conscience.
My son has kept all his Nintendo units and games since Game Boy Colour, and they all still function quite well. Yes, the Game Cube, Wii and WiiU are all still in use as well!
No, I have not come across a counterfeit 3DS XL … but then again I am not looking and I certainly wouldn't be surprised if they are being made at this very moment!
Ps. Thanks for the thumbs down - I haven't participated in your game … as I believe your mention of the region locking/coded problems that can occur, was actually good advice.
Just posted today.
