    Note: $1,408.95 delivered.

The warranty makes it seem like Apple won't honour the warranty. I think I'd rather pay the extra $140 and get it from Apple.

    • Even more so since Apple warranty is 2 years now, not that they are shouting it from the rooftops for some weird reason…

    • +1

Correction, the Apple one for $140 more is an i5. Their i7 is 2GHz and $125 more, so a $265 total more. COTD's one is an i7 1.8GHz, not available from Apple AU which might explain the lack of manufacturer warranty.

Still rather go with Apple. Or The Good Guys, who currently have the 13.3" 1.5 1.8GHz/256GB at $1391.

      • +1

Actually Apple has a i7 you just select the i5 and configure.
BUT these COTD are old stock using a 2nd gen i7 whereas Apple is using a 3rd gen processor now.

        • +1

Yes, I said that they had an i7, but a different i7 from this one. The COTD i7 is 1.8GHz, the Apple i7 is 2GHz.

        • +1

          Sorry not paying attention :)
The current i5 versions is comparable to this i7.

        • Good to know. Unfortunately the Apple site tells you as little as possible about the specs, including no model number for CPUs, so I wasn't sure.

        • i5 3427U not really advertised many places.

All mid 2011 models so not really a bargain…

Mac Mini is the same price as new but you get HD4000 graphics, USB3 and double the storage with 2012 models.

    Don't see the point…

Mid 2011 models didnt had SD card slots as far as i remember

    • they did

  • All Apple products have international warranty - so i dont think there is an issue there -

  • almost 2 year old model - older processor - old stock

    • Exactly, and it's 1549 RRP for the new one of this spec, and newer proc, and USB 3, and also if you get 10% off deals, it'll be about the same.

Catch of the day are just the biggest rorts

  • The processor and graphics card suggest that this might be an older model. I am assuming the 2 x USB ports are not 3.0 either which definitely indicates an older model.

  • The Mac Mini is a rip off - about 1.5 months ago I bought an i7 Mac Mini (RRP $899) for $84x.xx from Myer Sydney CBD (I'm 99% sure it was $845 I paid after telling them JB offered it for $847). COTD want $999 for the old model!

Mine came with a 1TB HDD (rather than 2x 500GB HDD's in this offer), same 4GB RAM, and it's the newer model that was released around November last year!

Am I being an ass if I say 'not a deal'? :)

EDIT: OK I was an ass and pressed [-1]

    • If your mac mini came with a single 1TB drive then you don't have the Mac Mini server (which this one is). So your point is void.

Admittedly this is not a good price (COTD). You really don't know what you're talking about.

      • This COTD Mac Mini is an i7 2.0GHz for $999, I purchased an i7 2.3GHz for $845 (same RAM, same HDD space).

Yes I know the current server model has a 2.5GHz clock speed and extra 1TB drive for $1099 RRP.

BTW - you can download the server edition as an App Store update (I think $30).

        Still not a bargain! :)

  • the hardware in these things dosnt justify the price………….

  • Can you run Window on this Mac? I had few soft that only like Window…

    • yep

    • of cos u can.

    • I run win 8 and the windows experience index is as follows; (macbook, not mac mini)
      Processor: 6.9
      RAM: 5.9
      Graphics: 5.5
      Gaming Graphics: 6.2
      HDD: 6.9

  • Old model not a bargain sorry.

If this is very cheap, then you're shopping at the wrong stores - the current gen i7 Macbook Air with same specs is $1,549 off the Apple website itself! Not taking into account student discounts, StartHere cashback, etc

Or you can get the i5 for $1,399. Either way, they need to discount it by more than $150 to make buying the older model worthwhile!

  • OH….why does Apple still selling 2nd Gen iCore?
Seems very old to me with this price.

  • +1

Be aware that the memory is not upgradeable! 4Gb which comes with it is not future proof at all, especially for this high price.
If you want an Air, get one from Apple with 8Gb of memory.
The i7 vs i5: even a power user may not feel the difference (IMO)

  • Neg because its COTD

    • Invalid reason for a neg, revoked.
