  • Is this better quality than the John Wests and similar tuna that's half the size, but regularly sell for $1, making it roughly the same price, but more flexible?

      • Great link thanks :)

      • Great link, although can't say I see the logic in their ranking table. The way I read it simplistically IGA should be on top since they've got all "green fish" bullet points, no orange or red.

Sad to see Aldi near the bottom, since they're the only ones offering awesome curry flavours, although they're in the 'Portview' range, supposedly better than their 'Oceanrise'

    • Yes it completely owns those smaller tin brands, its the best supermarket tuna I've had and now at a great price give it a try :)

Once you try it you won't go back. No comparison

  • Their page 3 is very deceptive, it says regular mince was $7.90, is $6.

It's been $6 now for months and months…

    • It has in smaller writing under the price 'Down since 29/09/11' and has a big red hand saying 'Over 1 Year, Down'. But yeah, at first glance it's a little deceptive I guess.

  • Woolies has pringles for $2

    =D

  • Least sustainable? Or most? Not being a smart ass OP, just wondering.

Sirena is one of the least sustainable, using large nets to catch everything they can, then filtering out the tuna. A lot of different fish are killed in this process. The sustainable brands use poles to catch fish and therefore can be more selective / less wasteful. I've stopped buying sirena and sole mare for this reason even though they taste the best :(

    • Sirena uses overfished yellowfin tuna. It tastes better. The other brands have stopped fishing those and fish sustainable types of tunas. click on the brands and have a read. I buy greenseas. http://www.greenpeace.org/australia/en/what-we-do/oceans/Tak…

  • The way I read it, Safcol and John West are more sustainable than Sirena, Sirena is better than Aldi and Woolies. So, this would be a bad buy compared to the John West and Safcol and Greeseas, based on the greenpeace site?

Top deal ill be stocking up 50-100 cans. Cheers

Don't know what all the talk above is about, you aren't making a difference. Yellow fin is by far the best tasting tuna.

It might taste good but it doesn't hurt to learn about where it comes from, it tastes best when the fishery management and long term future of the species makes you feel good.

P.S. The best tasting tuna isn't put in tins.
