I've been watching for this a while. Generally good, small and light walkabout with great range. Best walk-in store price that I've seen for local stock. Saw somewhere that their sale finishes end of March.

RRP is $650+

Available for Canon, Nikon and Sony.
"World's longest range 15x zoom lens with built-in Vibration Compensation."

    wish they have for pentax

  • that's actually really good.
you can get it for $10 cheaper from bhphotovideo but not worth the wait time.
I've got the sigma version which is really awesome. Never own any Tamron lens before but the review seems to be pretty positive on this one.

    • Amazon.de price?

  • I bought one but it seems having bit problem with focusing. Many photos came out blur. Same Canon camera has no such problem with its original lens.

    • If it's still under warranty you can take it back to the store for advice. That's why sometimes it's better to buy from a physical store.

    • What is the min. focus distance on your canon lens?

    • It depends what your original lens was.. it is a "slow" lens and will struggle in low light. I actually tested this indoors once when a family member thought theirs was faulty. We both have the identical lens and similar bodies. We took test shot and found often the focus would miss or not refocus. This was only when it struggled to get proper focus from about 1m indoor. My lens worked exactly the same on his body, and his lens on my body, so it was a lens problem, not his copy of the lens. I actually tested my Canon 15-85 and it performed better but still not 100%, my brand new L 70-300 focused quickly and accurately 95% of the time. So yes this Tamron is not perfect by any means, but it is not a L class lens (price or performance). Outdoors and general photography it was normally fine.

    • The photos came out blur because of the lense? or was your shutter speed too low? try bumping ur shutter speed to 1/100 and test it again.

  • Great walkabout lens… I paid about $660 grey for mine a few years ago and my wife still prefers it over my more expensive canon lenses due to ease of use.. bit soft on the edges but fine for most people.

  • Outstanding price for Aussie stock and Aussie store, nice find :)

  • I've been using this lens for a while now - great lens!
I'm upgrading to a L series soon so if anyone is interested in a second hand one, PM me.

  • No Sony version :(

but in my search found same lens for 469 (grey) at valuebasket.com.au with $7 off using VBAU7360

Just spoke to the guys at the Sydney Broadway store (I bought my Canon version there). FYI, their Top Ryde store in Sydney has one for Sony in stock.

  • This is a good travel lens… Not a bad price at all… and it is definitely manufactured in the Sony mount

    • yes I know, but sony isn't listed on the camera house website.
