Didn't have the need for one of these a few weeks ago when deals were posted but now I do. :-( The cheapest I can find including shipping is $215. Would you know of any cheaper places?

    i think better get minimal 3 bays for flexibility and protection, also get with usb 3 if possible.
    i saw newer model with hdmi too~!

      Trying to keep costs down! This seems most value for money but sad I missed the deal for $178 delivered from Flingshot :-(

        I know it's not what you want to hear but after setting up a mate with an HP N40L running FreeNAS I wouldn't touch a 2bay Synology when the prices are so similar.

        FreeNAS on an N40L gives you a 5bay NAS for similar money and gives you ZFS etc. Have a look at the FreeNAS site - if the interface/features appeal I'd consider it.

          yeah 2 bay nas is a bit pointless when 4 bays are about the same price

          sometimes feel i should get n40l instead of my 5bays syno. feel i dont need all the built in pretty applications (which make the nas price high). i just need powerful media server that can transcode mkv to mp4 on the fly, burn external srts..
